From Santa Anita: "Potrero Grande Stakes winner Big Macher worked five furlongs for Richard Baltas in 1:02.20, galloping out six furlongs in 1:15 3/5."
From Santa Anita: "Former claimer Big Macher, developed into a stakes winner by trainer Richard Baltas, is scheduled have his first work (four furlongs) tomorrow since he was sidelined with a foot issue following a workout on May 10. 'He’s doing well,' said Baltas, who ranks fourth in Santa Anita’s Spring Meet standings with eight wins from 30 starts, a 27 percent winning average. 'He’s had two weeks of galloping. His foot (right, front) is really good and solid.'"
Big Macher has resumed training, will, however, not be racing again this spring, and will point for the Del Mar Meet, according to DRF
Trainer Richard Baltas reports that Big Macher, winner of the Grade II Potrero Grande Stakes on April 6, is progressing after being vanned off the track due to an issue with his right front foot last Saturday following a five furlong workout in 59.80. “He had a nuclear scan and everything looks pretty good,” Baltas said of the California-bred son of Beau Genius. “I X-rayed his feet and I didn’t see anything, so we’ll go slow and easy and bring him back. We put new shoes on him.”
Former claimer Big Macher, developed into a two-time stakes-winning sprinter by trainer Richard Baltas, was vanned off following a five furlong workout in 59.80 Saturday morning, but Baltas said the California-bred son of Beau Genius was not in a life-threatening situation. “He was a little off in his right front foot, but we pulled the shoe off, treated him, and he’s resting comfortably in his stall,” Baltas said.
  • mdracing69 · Trainer Richard Baltas says Potrero Grande Stakes winner Big Macher is doing well since being vanned off Saturday morning due to an issue with his right front foot. “He’s acting normal in the stall, we soaked his foot yesterday, poulticed it and walked him this morning,” Baltas said. “Nothing showed up. We’ll work on his foot the next couple days, maybe have a vet X-ray it, nuclear scan it, to see if we can find anything else.” · 473 days ago
