Pure speed. If Beau Purple had the lead at the eighth pole you could not beat him!The Chief did a wonderful job training him.
One of the great Allen Jerkens best. If he got an easy early lead, he was tough to catch. Just ask Kelso and Carry Back.
One of those "forgotten horses." Beau was no joke folks! He beat Kelso more than once. To me thats saying something!

  • Buckpasser · Main problem for Beau Purple was soundness issues. After the Widener where he beat Kelso he had tendon problems which helped shorten his career. He also had physical issues earlier in his career as well. As they say of many horses, if Beau Purple had been sound it's no telling how good he could have been. · 882 days ago
