What the Horse Racing Nation is saying about Be Fair...

Miss Keller took off in the stretch in Wednesday’s $70,000 De La Rose to give trainer Roger Attfield his second stakes victory of the meet and jockey Javier Castellano his fourth winner of the day.   As Be Fair led the field through opening fractions of 23.88 and 47.22, Castellano kept Miss Kel...Read More
Be Fair was scheduled to make her turf debut at Saratoga in last summer’s Grade 2 Lake George, a race she won impressively over a sloppy track when it was rained off the grass.   Almost exactly one year later, she will have her chance to test the surface in Wednesday’s one-mile, $70,000 De La R...Read More
The venue changed from Fair Grounds to Churchill Downs, and the rival changed from Zardana to Unrivaled Belle, but in the end Rachel Alexandra fell a head short for the second consecutive time. Read More

  • davidcrone · It's pretty simple...the filly wants her head and wants to go 46 and change or 47 flat. The 48 and 4 stuff allows other horses to be close who finish stronger than she does. She doesn't have an explosive turn of foot. You have to realize, when she goes 46 and 3 a horse has to go 48 and change just to be within ten lengths. They need to stop trying to make her rate and stop taking away her greatest weapon. · 1141 days ago ·

  • Lmaris · Medlocke you're making it up out of whole cloth. You have no idea how much further back Zenyatta would have been with reasonable and not glacial fractions. You have no idea whether she'd been able to catch a faster pace. Zenyatta went to the lead early BECAUSE THERE WAS NO PACE. There wasn't much quality in the race either. Let's remember Zenyatta didn't run until late May 2009, and by mid-April of her 4 year old year, Zenyatta had run a grand total of 4 races, only 1 grade one. I doubt we'll see her out of California again. · 1163 days ago ·

  • rossington · Heaven help us, is it possible that she may skip across the conventional dirt even faster than she does across a synthetic track? If she does, there's going to be a lot of disappointment for other thoroughbred's this season, that race against Zenyatta. Granted, the competition that was supposed to be there wasn't, but if you'll pardon the pun, to "Be Fair", Zenyatta never broke out of any faster of a clip than an exercise canter for the whole race. She was under a hand ride the whole way, and found herself at the lead so fast, she almost looked confused as to what to do. IMO, if Rachel Alexandra had been at the Apple Blossom today, the fractions would certainly have been faster, but the outcome of the race wouldn't have changed one iota. If Mike Smith, who never ask for anything the whole race, would've had to ask for Rachel today, Rachel would've found more there than what she's capable of handling. IMO. · 1166 days ago ·
