What the Horse Racing Nation is saying about Bayrir...

If history has taught us anything in the Hong Kong Vase, it’s that the 1 ½ mile turf affair is no easy task for a three-year-old to win. In fact, the only two sophomores to prove victorious so far in the first 18 runnings of the rich event are a pair of fillies, Vallee Enchantee and Daryakana. The l...Read More
An article this weekend on Sportinglife.com says the recent G1 Secretariat Stakes winner and G2 Prix Niel 2nd, Bayrir, may sidestep next weekend's Arc De Triomphe in favor of a return trip to America in the BC Turf. Classy 3yr.old, and he showed in the Prix Niel that 12f is definitely within his scope. He'll be a great addition to the BC Turf field assuming Alain De Royer-Dupre sends him over?
Last month's G1 Secretariat Stakes winner, Bayrir, stretches out to 12f for the first time in his career today at Longchamp and finishes 2nd, beaten about 1 length by the G1 Prix Du Jockey Club(French Derby) winner, Saonois, in the G2 Prix Niel at Longchamp. I think both Saonis and Bayrir are likely to be two of the best 3yr.old's running in the Arc this year, IMO.
Suddenly, America’s chances on the turf in the Breeders’ Cup look just a little better...Read More

  • driveon · I was really, really impressed with the appearance of Bayrir. Now there's a horse that looks the part! I'm sure we'll be hearing more from him. Nice job with the article, Chris. · 303 days ago ·

  • icyhotboo · I thought it was between him and Boisterous and when Boisterous didn't get the soft ground it left him alone. Anyone who challenged him would have taken themselves out too.25/49 are about right for turf · 305 days ago ·

  • gelded1 · I agree that Boisterous needed a slow or yielding course to have a shot and I too dismissed him for that reason. They were about 2 secs slower at the 3/4 and mile than the Secretariat Stakes that ran earlier at 1 1/4 .Smart ride by Ramon . · 305 days ago ·

This horse is on a real nice roll for Alain De Royer-Dupre and the Aga Khan of late. He won a listed race at Saint-Cloud. Followed by a win in the G2 Prix Eugene Adam at Maison-Laffitte. The Prix Eugene Adam is among the most valuable G2 stakes races in all of Europe. Now he comes over to America and I'm sure will pick up another quite nice paycheck for his win in the G1 Secretariat Stakes. The Aga Khan rarely send their horses to America to race anymore. But they've obviously targeted the G1 Secretariat Stakes as a race the stable wanted to win. Having had Ziyarid(now Cheers Joy in Hong Kong) finish 2nd behind Treasure Beach in the race in 2011.

Bayrir found American soil and 1 ¼ miles to his liking, as the His Highness the Aga Khan’s French-bred Medicean colt shipped over and swept by a good group of 3-year-old turf males to win the Grade I $500,000 Secretariat Stakes on Saturday at Arlington Park.Read More
