Older Comments about Bayern...

on July 10, Bayern worked 1M at Santa Anita on Fast Dirt in 1:37.80 h finishing 1/1.
I don't usually bet trainers but after Baffert Won the Haskell for the 5th time with Coil in 2011 I promised myself I would never bet against him in that race ever again. In the 2 runnings since he has won with Paynter and finished second with Power Broker. You can guess who my pick is this year, Untapable or not
on July 4, Bayern worked 5F at Santa Anita on Fast Dirt in :59.80 h finishing 8/51.
on June 23, Bayern worked 4F at Santa Anita on Fast Dirt in :47.80 h finishing 14/49.
There were a number of great candidates this week, but in the end, ZATT's Star of the Week, is ... Bayern!

  • tmallios · Euro at the risk of belaboring a point. What you just said is the gist of my point. She was behind Hatches you said. Down the backstretch they were even, with Beholder holding the advantage on the outside and having Hatches pinned on the rail, and POS behind her. In front of her was absolutely nothing threatening. The move Hatches made is the move that Beholder should of made ala the BC Distaff. Note in that race Beholder took it to them and forced them to play catch up. In my interpetation, that is a horse packing jets. In the BC (at Santa Anita) She fired,on Saturday she did not. Stevens was asking her to early in the race. Notice in Cali, she is always loaded for bear. She is always on cruise control. Hope you enjoyed the races . · 722 days ago
  • Ruffianlover · Bayern was very deserving of being the winner. all the talk all week was about how SI would win the Belmont if he entered and Bayern just completely put him away. · 722 days ago
rafi and jmac you were wrong I was right i said this horse was goin to win and you said he coldnt
From Santa Anita: "Bob Baffert on Bayern’s smashing 7 ½-length victory at 9-1 under Gary Stevens in the Grade II, $500,000 Woody Stephens at Belmont yesterday: 'I’ve been waiting for him to do that the last couple starts ... Gary loved the horse. The Derby Trial (disqualified from first) disappointed me, but we’re getting to know the horse, he’s had some racing, and I think we need to let him run early. I think that’s what he wants to do. We were trying to rate him and make him something he wasn’t. He’s coming home and I’m going to sit on him here and look at him and see how he responds from his hard schedule (before deciding on his next race).'"
wow!!! but Social Inclusion away like he was a $1,000 claimer. those blinkers made a HUGE different! Gary & Bayern reunite to romp!

  • LAZMANNICK · I understand what you’re saying ekindly, but in a way this wasn’t just any race. This was a bragging rights race and one that could emphatically say that she can run just as well away from Santa Anita and she does there. My question is, why take a horse out of its normal running style when there was absolutely no need to? It would have been like asking POS to go right to the front and try to wire the field instead of running her normal come-from-behind style. I’ve seen Gary ride a ton of great races and I’ve also seen him ride a few bad ones. I’m really puzzled about this one. · 723 days ago
  • icyhotboo · LAZ thanks for pointing out Sweet Reason, Bayern was a bet back from the Preakness where he got pinched badly. Today I actually bet a son of Tapit in the Belmont Stakes, $20.00 isn't a lot except when you're sure you just threw it away. · 723 days ago
Blazing fast race. It's amazing seeing how talented this crop is and Chrome has just demolished them all at every challenge. Also impressive because This was also social inclusion and bayerns third race in five weeks!

  • amdaman · Obviously it didn't. Can't be right about everything, can I? In the end I did make a little money. After seeing how Rosario was riding today, I use Tonalist as a backup. Didn't have Comissioner or Medal Count anywhere though. · 723 days ago
All I can say is WOW, ran like he was possessed in that win!

Amino, basically a bullet work to go with Blinkers on. That does not even include Gary Stevens getting back on board. I think Bullet Bob is finally getting serious with this guy. Kid gloves are off. Like it alot

I would have looked more deeply into this horse if Gary Stevens or Mike Smith were on him, but best of luck to Napravnik
  • rafirox · Horse can't go the distance, will get pace. Has no chance in this field no matter the circumstances. · 746 days ago
on May 12, Bayern worked 5F at Churchill Downs on Fast Dirt in 1:02.60 b finishing 9/17.
Blinkers off!
Prepping for the Preakness- May 5th he worked 5F in :58.20 at CD.
Just think, if Baffert had just been patient and entered him as an AE, Bayern would have made the Derby starting gate. One week fresher then last weekend's fiasco.
  • ekindy · Actually now that I double check, I am wrong. Pablo had $2000 more in earnings before last weekend. · 761 days ago
Shouldn't of been a DQ, both horses/jockeys were at fault.

  • travel_vic · https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yx7bCXk_6No the brushing at 1:20 was nothing as both colts participated but watch LATE as The DQ'd colt just gets wider blocking the eventual winner and secondarily impeding the fast closing show colt. · 764 days ago
  • travel_vic · quote: The favorite appeared to straighten out leaving the furlong mark but veered out noticeably when Napravnik switched again to the left-handed stick, and they carried Embellishing Bob out as they approached the wire. Myositis Dan, winding up a big charge from sixth at the quarter pole, arrived at the wire five wide to just miss under Joe Rocco Jr. Hernandez said Bayern was "getting out the whole way." http://espn.go.com/horse-racing/story/_/id/10847734/embellishing-bob-gets-derby-trial-win-dq · 764 days ago
The way people on this site talk about this horse he should of won by daylight and not even had to of worried about running into any other horse. Guess hes not as beastly as we thought and hes just another 3 year old

  • doggie · I started reading this site 'cause I thought it might be interesting to see what others thought. Didn't realize there were so many "trainers" touts and wizzards of racing here. Like a bunch of little kids pissing at each other. Myself not a big bettor just enjoy racin, I have Chitu at 200/1 in the future book from Dec. can he win?? Sure, will he i dunno but most of y'all do! Geesh guys lighten up. :) · 765 days ago
