What the Nation is saying about Awesome Patriot...

Any Info on him?
Trainer John Sadler took a spot part-way up the grandstand, trained his binoculars on the two horses in the midst of a serious exercise over the main track Sunday morning and communicated to the riders via a walkie-talkie. “Steady, steady, not too fast,” he said as they came around the turn into the...Read More

Upstaging the 143rd running of the $1 million Belmont Stakes (Grade I), the most impressive performance by a three-year-old on Saturday came with Coil dispatching his five rivals as the 4-to-5 favorite in the $100,000 Affirmed Handicap (Grade III) at Hollywood Park. Read More
  • BrianZipse · I have always liked this one ... With the Triple Crown crew, shall we say struggling just a bit, it might be a new star of the division who takes over in the summer and fall. Coil is a very interesting candidate to do just that. · 348 days ago ·

For the second time in six years, trainer Bob Baffert won the $100,000 Affirmed Handicap with a son of Point Given.   Following in the steps of 2006 winner Point Determined, Coil successfully stretched out Saturday, defeating Runflatout and four others in the Grade III.   Perfect in three ...Read More

  • ajump08 · I think J J's Lucky Train may be able to rock the Bay Shore on the Wood Memorial under card. He ran well at two turns in the early winter, but his true talent is going one turn. Plus the best 3yo sprinters don't seem to be showing up for this one-Flashpoint, The Factor, Sway Away, even Travelin' Man are all elsewhere mostly looking at the Derby. · 420 days ago ·

Premier Pegasus jumped to the head of the West Coast Kentucky Derby class with a romping 7-3/4 length score in Saturday's San Felipe Stakes at Santa Anita Park. Albergatti and an overbet Runflatout broke the gate running and set taxing fractions of :21.75 and :44.58. Comma To The Top sat just off th...Read More

  • icyhotboo · He had a perfect trip(understatement),was in against sprinters with the exception of two who made their first start of 2011,Jaycito and Awsome Patriot ,how could he look bad? Still don't know where he's at as CTTT could only bring him a mile before he was through. That left him even better than "loose on the lead" as the only horse in the race who could get the distance of 1 1/16 mile.He looked good but others still have to be heard from. · 439 days ago ·

  • footlick · As usual Baffert used this race to get a feel for Jaycito. Look for a mucj improved race next out. Premier Pegasus looked good. Comma did well after being close to that ridiculous pace. · 439 days ago ·

  • BrianZipse · I am expecting improvement from him as well. Interestingly, Quinonez had his choice on two of the favorites, and he chose PrePeg over Bench Points. You can see a video interview on that decision over on Marc Doche's SoCal Scoop blog. · 441 days ago ·

  • KyOaksRunner · I think Jaycito is more than willing to completely steal the show in the Felipe but I'll be rooting for Bench Points. I'm not sure how prepared he'll be coming off just a 6F race but I'lve really liked his winning style so far. · 441 days ago ·

  • ajump08 · Elite Alex is going to keep improving for Tim Ritchey, who trained his sire Afleet Alex, who ran 6th in the Rebel before winning the Arkansas Derby and eventually moving on to take the last two legs of the Triple Crown. Interesting note: He's an Ontario bred, so the Queen's Plate is probably on the back of the connections' heads. Also, people need to realize the majority of the 3 year olds you see aren't geared up all the way, the trainers wan't to slowly progress through the Winter for peak performance in May when it really matters. Examples of horses running huge in their last prep race and then dissapointing on the First Saturday of May are abundant: Sidney's Candy, Bellamy Road, and even Afleet Alex (although his third wasn't bad). · 445 days ago ·
