Older Comments about Awesome Act...

Awsome Act has been training at the Fair Grounds, and his last work was going a half mile in 50 4/5. Nothing that I know of was said of his next start but maybe the fair ground stakes race for older horses this spring.
does anyone what happen with Awesome Act
Does anyone know if Awesome

  • mdracing69 · I have not heard anything since early May. That report said when Awesome Act returns to the racetrack, he will be trained by Steve Asmussen. The colt will rest and recuperate at the Vinery near Lexington. · 2340 days ago
  • cigar · They are waiting to find the next spot for him to overbet in. · 2340 days ago
Just an FYI....Awesome Act will be wearing Vinery Stable silks in the Derby on Saturday afternoon. Dark Green with White Yolk ala Freisan Fire in the Derby on Saturday. I think this horse is going to win as Leparoux is perfectly suited for him and knows Churchill. The big question if he wins is will he go onto the Preakness or might they try the Epsom Derby with him?
If this horse lost a shoe and had a bad run in the Wood, I believe he could be a great play on Deby day. Makes it interesting.
whos gonna ride in the derby Julien Leparoux?
Last was better than it looked. Will improve several lengths off that third place finish in the Wood
I'm just assuming mind you. But since Awesome Act is in the United States right now, and has an impressive win in the Gotham Stakes, and next plans to run in April's Wood Memorial that if he does well in Wood that his connections intend to race him in the 2010 Kentucky Derby. Because looking up his stats on his previous races at Newmarket and Kempton in Great Britain, attheraces.com still has Awesome Act listed as a starter on May 1, 2010 in the stanjames.com 2000 Guineas. If he's planning on racing in the Guineas instead of the Kentucky Derby, what's he doing in the U.S. racing over conventional dirt at Aqueduct? One would think he'd be back in Great Britain racing on Turf if he was going to run in the 2000 Guineas.
I'm curious? Awesome Act winning the Gotham Stakes at Aqueduct has been probably the most impressive Kentucky Derby prep that I've personally seen run yet in 2010. He has a turf record in Great Britain of 5 starts, with 1 win, and 2 place efforts. On off-turf surfaces. he has 2 starts on the all-weather surface at Kempton with 1 win and 1 show. On the Santa Anita Turf, he has 1 fourth place effort in the 09' B.C. Juvenile Turf. And lastly, on Aqueducts conventional dirt surface, he has an impressive win in the Gotham. Yet, on attheraces.com, the Ireland and Great Britain racing web-site, he's shown as being listed to race in the stanjames.com 2000 Guineas on May 1, 2010. I'm curious why Awesome Act's owners and trainer would have in the U.S. at Aqueduct racing in a race that's generally considered a Kentucky Derby prep race if they intend to ship Awesome Act back to Great Britain to race in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket, back on the Turf, on May 1st? There's no way the timing of the two races would allow him enough time to race in the 2000 Guineas in the UK, and then ship back to the U.S. to race in the Kentucky Derby. My gut tells me that after such an impressive performance on conventional dirt at Aqueduct, that Awesome Act will ultimately scratch out of the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket, and take his chances on the dirt at Churchill Downs on the first Saturday in May in the Kentucky Derby. TJMO.
  • maverick · I agrre with you about AWESOME ACT. He wasn't used hard to win the Gotham, but then again he didn't need to be agaisnt that weak field. Don't be fooled , his win was visually impressive and very professional looking. You could tell from watching, that jockey Leparoux made sure there was alot keft in the tank for the next start. If he passes the Wood test, he will be a major force on Derby day. Long way to go though. · 2410 days ago
Nice race by Awesome Act and great ride by Leparoux to take the Gotham. Here comes the hype on this one...
Ran a decent 4th in BC Juv Turf. Noseda is going to run him over poly and if decent he could come for the Gotham.
