What the Horse Racing Nation is saying about Arienza...

This lightly raced daughter of 2002 HOTY Azeri will enter the 2012 season at Oaklawn Park later today. She will also being trying out a new running style according to her connections who would like to get her up to two turns.
Kent Desormeaux won his second straight stakes race at Churchill Downs on Friday when he guided Victoria's Wildcat to a going away tally in the seven furlong Eight Belles (G3). There was pace in the paper race and Joel Rosario was intent on the lead aboard California invader Home Sweet Aspen. She to...Read More
Pomeroys Pistol captured the seven furlong Forward Gal (G2) in Florida and she is back at her winning distance in Friday's Eight Belles (G3) at Churchill Downs. Any chance with the withdrawing of R Heat Lightning that Arienza will point to the Oaks now.
The 136th Kentucky Oaks is just one week away. In seven short days one of the nation’s leading fillies will cross the line first to seize leadership of the division, or at least that how it seems it should work out on paper. In the real world who knows what could happen. Long shots have been having ...Read More
  • zatt · Brian, like you, I am becoming more intrigued with St. John's River all the time. What do you think, can she pull off a shocker??? · 391 days ago ·

  • KyOaksRunner · It certainly looks like she'll have the best shot of the long-shots to take down the favorites but she's not my win pick as of now. I loved how she was flying in the Fair Grounds Oaks, a swift and sustained drive....kind of the like the female version of Nehro maybe? :) · 389 days ago ·

Just two weeks and four short days remain until the running of the 137th Kentucky Oaks on Friday May 6th at Churchill Downs. In stark contrast to the current disarray that the three-year-old male division finds itself in with heavy Derby favorites falling by the way side left and right, the three-ye...Read More
  • BrianZipse · I can't argue with your rankings, Brian, but I am leaning to a Kathmanblu, Zazu, and Wyomia box for my play ... I have a feeling that this year's Oaks will be won from well off the pace. · 401 days ago ·

  • 12thCrown · Joyful looked dominant at OP, which has been the key prep as of late. But I will be pulling for Khatmanblu as well! · 389 days ago ·

R Heat Lightning completed her Kentucky Oaks preparations on Saturday with a good looking four furlong breeze under the Twin Spires.   The likely Oaks favorite completed her morning move in :48.20, which was 7th best of 60 works at the distance. Saturday's breeze was her second drill at Church...Read More

Exactly ten days until the May 6th Kentucky Oaks and now we have a finalized number of fillies who are eyeing the prized contest. • DeadHeat · Royal Delta could be one to watch, coming into her third off a layoff -that is almost always a good play.- R Heat is my top, she has just matured sooo much physically and mentally. · 393 days ago ·

  • KyOaksRunner · Certainly can't argue against choosing R Heat Lighting, she's done nothing wrong so far and is looking very strong in her works! I'm kind of intrigued with Royal Delta as well, if she makes the field she could be an interesting pick for the exotics. · 393 days ago ·

We are now less than two weeks to the Kentucky Oaks and the major contenders are putting in their final works for the big event. A full field of fourteen is expected and leading the way are R Heat Lightning and Joyful Victory. R Heat Lightning has held down the top spot in my top ten since March 7. ...Read More
The Wood Memorial may have been the most shocking upset of the season but Lilacs and Lace did her best to steal the spotlight this weekend with a 48-1 upset in the Ashland Stakes (gr.1) at Keeneland on Saturday. The performance of the week was turned in by Joyful Victory. The sharp Larry Jones trainee followed up a romping Honeybee tally with a Fantasy walk in the park on April 10. She only received an 83 BSF but looked great doing it once again. Highly regarded Azeri filly Arienza could not match strides w...Read More

  • KyOaksRunner · It's always hard determing if a horse will get 10 furlongs but as far as preps go this year the fillies have been far more impressive than the males aside from The Factor and Premier Pegasus. It would be interesting to see some match ups later in the year. · 414 days ago ·
