Tizway handled a deep and talented field, two turns, and 1 1/8 miles with aplomb Saturday afternoon at Saratoga Race Course, rolling to an emphatic three-length victory over Flat Out in the 84th running of the Grade 1, $750,000 Whitney Invitational Handicap. Read More

  • DeadHeat · Rail Trip has never struck me as a slow horse, especially when he ran 1.40 and change for 8.5f last out ;) Look for a horse you know has the tactical speed to rate but will be the closer to the pace, 5 or 6 from the front. Saratoga is deep and tiring, more than some other tracks in the US, so when a horse looks like it is running slow, it is probably running evenly, when it is running evenly it's probably running fast, and when your going fast your burning up the track. · 294 days ago ·

We're riding now at Saratoga Race Course, 11 days into the summer meet. This is where I started, and it's where I won my first race in 2005, so I always feel at home every time I come back. Charles “Scooter” Dickey, trainer of Flat Out (No. 1, 4-1) by telephone: “The post position doesn’t make any difference to him. I like my chances, and the horse is doing well. • ruffian75 · When I was actually watching the race live, I thought there was interference. But,when I saw the replay, Pool Play cut in on Giant Oak's path, for he was ahead of him, but, it looked as though Gomez recognized immediately, and veered out. It looked as though it broke Giant Oak's run, but he might not have caught Pool Play anyway. Probably cost him 2nd or 3rd. · 340 days ago ·
