What the Nation is saying about Anthony's Cross...

There was no stopping Centralinteligence, who had been eased in the Grade I Malibu Stakes on opening day Dec. 26, as the 4-year-old son of Smarty Jones delivered a one-length victory when returning Thursday in Santa Anita’s $60,700 allowance feature at 6 ½ furlongs. Read More
Stay Thirsty had his first breeze Sunday since a 12th-place finish in the Kentucky Derby, covering a half-mile at Belmont Park in 47.97. Owner Mike Repole confirmed that he was being pointed for the Belmont Stakes. Read More

Don't look now, but the 2011 Kentucky Derby is only ten weeks away. New contenders are rising fast, while the pretenders are falling by the wayside. Saturday features an excellent prep from Gulfstream Park, as To Honor and Serve makes his sophomore debut in the grade 2 Fountain of Youth Stakes. Next...Read More

  • dipak1 · 2011 kentucky derby is over, i am very disappointed with jockey Julien Leparoux piloting Dialed In in a very sluggish way left him 50 lengths behind the leaders without realizing that it is not a ordinary race, it is world famous Kentucky Derby and it is not a play ground, no horses yet own this kind of big races with a very big field and fast running horses ,own the race. it is kind ok joke to me that Leparoux play today in the derby field. it looks like he did'nt care too much about the race. shame on him! · 383 days ago ·

  • icyhotboo · dipak1 it's almost impossible for a deep closer like DI to close on a tepid pace as shown today. If someone had told me the early fractions would be that slow I would have laughed. Leparoux is one of the best but he also needs a horse and a deep closer NEEDS a fast pace so the front runners come back to him as well as him gaining ground. · 383 days ago ·

As unpredictable as this season’s Derby Trail has been, I feel like I should attach a disclaimer to my final rankings before the 2011 Kentucky Derby … but that’s no fun. So here they are, my thoughts on all 20 horses (better make it 21 just in case.) Because of the near impossible task of separating...Read More

Cotter’s homebred Toby’s Corner, winner of the Wood Memorial (GI), breezed six furlongs in 1:15 Sunday morning over the Tapeta surface at the Fair Hill Training Center in Elkton, Md. “It was very non-eventful. It went exactly how I hoped it would,” trainer Gr...Read More

  • DeadHeat · I know. So many people seemed to have jumped off even though he had a valid excuse I know some may have wanted a 6f move, however CD can be a tiring track, and it gets even worse when it is sloppy. Mo's time, considering the conditions was fairly quick and the stickiness probably allowed him to get more out of the work than he would going 5f over a fast track. · 393 days ago ·

  • dubby30 · Stay Thirsty & Nehro for me, if you want to match pedigree against pedigree hands down both are going to stay the 10f before Mo does 100/100 times, if you're going to match talent vs talent Mo wins 85/100 but in picking the best set of 4 horses to round out my super Mo does not fit after this speed inducing work. Pros for mo - Most talented 3 year old running. fastest beyer figures, great trainer, top jock.Cons for mo - Pedigree and distance concerns, coming off sickness, 0 Stamina Building works, Quirky Prep schedule with a 1 mile public workout and a 1 mile (although the race was 1 1/8th mile) prep at the Big A, Last thing going against him, 0 Stamina building works. One more thing, 0 Stamina building works. I said after the Wood, no matter what test results showed, I needed to see a nice 6f work that gave indication that he was fit and that they were trying to put stamina into his diet of works, His 5f move today did nothing but put more speed into the horse, and although I really really like the horse alot, off this move, which i thought needed to be either 6f or 7f, and then see a 4f blowout before the race, he is a toss for me. For me at least, if he beats me with that many Cons, and the type of cons that he has working against him, so be it. But I'll look elsewhere. · 393 days ago ·

Point Given ran the SA Derby in 1:47.77. Midnight Interlude ran in in 1:48.56 a bit slower. Anthony seems out of it entirely.
Well, I was wrong about this guy! Midnight Interlude?!?! OK! Well, 2 disappointing preps. Hopefully the Arkansas and/or Bluegrass will offer us something to feed off of for the Derby 'cuz these other preps haven't given us much! I'd say my top Derby contenders as of today (04/10) are DI, TF, MoH if he goes, MMM, Jaycito, Santiva and Nehro and hopefully my boy EA finishes either 1 or 2 in the Arkansas and gets into the Derby 'cuz I think he's a good horse and could be a factor at the 10f Derby distance.
