  • Toasting · Great article, Matt. As far as the HOF goes, Curlin is a lock, and Asmussen is a near-lock. That leaves the eight others essentially vying for two spots. Antley's talent isn't in question, but like fellow nominee Garrett Gomez, his off-track demons may weigh heavy on the minds of voters. On ability, he's a Hall of Famer, but I'm not sure the voters will shut out his habits away from the track. · 36 days ago ·

  • goblin · Well, I guess dennis.mathews' statement is amusing as well as containing truthful elements; but I have both heard Steve A. say and read written accounts in which he gives credit for "his" success to his entire team, family (wife Julie), and his assistant trainers with special mention of Scott Blasi. · 36 days ago ·

  • johnbarbaro · These are two of my favorites. Neither one of them were healthy for any significant stretches in their career. Fu-Peg's pre derby resume was better. His Derby was way faster , both got beat in the Preakness. but AK won the Dubai World Cup and Fu-Peg never raced past 3 and didn't show up in the BCC in his finale but AK didn't show up in his finale either. Toss up but if they were going 10F on the dirt in their prime I would go with Fu-Peg · 40 days ago ·

not sure if i'll ever see another horse race for awhile that gave me chills the way he did. sure i LOVE Game On Dude, but AK was special. when he was good he was probably one of the best horses in the world.

This is a complete hypothetical but what if Animal Kingdom and Zenyatta mated. I think it would make a great race horse. Feel free to comment

  • airedale2008 · Dr. Fager did what so many eastern horses could not do - win with authority on the hard, pasteboard surface at Hollywood Park. Drawing post 11 in a 14 horse field with speedsters Kissin' George, Dr. Roy E and Rising Market gunning for the lead, he cruised home to win by three. John Nerud flew him out Thursday, raced Saturday and flew back to Belmont Park Sunday. You should have skipped work that day, being as close as you were. · 94 days ago ·

i still get sad sometimes when i think about this horse. i think if he would have been put in different races he would have had even more success. he was best on synthetics at a CLASSIC distance.

  • Sullivan · You challenged more distance being harder on horses by using horses in their prime. those jorses can take anything. Two year olds cannot that is why we are using them. They are rffected by distance. · 131 days ago ·

  • ILuvTurfRacing · Declaration of War is a very classy horse that's all business once he's out on the track. This will obviously be his first time ever racing on conventional dirt, but War Front offspring has burning up all 3 surfaces in America and abroad. Plus, last season Declaration of War won the G3 Diamond Stakes over 10-1/2f on Dundalk's synthetic track in Ireland, which I've been told probably plays as close to being like conventional dirt as any synthetic track in Europe. The distance or the class isn't an issue at all with this horse. The only question that has to be answered is how he'll handle the switch to dirt? I don't know if Declaration of War will prove good enough to win the BC Classic or not? But I do think he gives Coolmore the best chance they've had of winning the race since Giant's Causeway in 2000 where the race has been held on conventional dirt and not synthetics. · 175 days ago ·

The first time I ever laid my eyes on Suntracer was in a maiden special weight at Arlington Park in the summer of 2010. He ran fourth that day on the Polytrack in his second career start.
