i dont think flores is the right jockey for american lion i think rosario or nakatani is the fit for him plus horses dont like the hot weather they like the cold they tried him on the turf and did not do to well they should try him on the nyra circuit for a few races plus they would have a better shot with him winning on the turf down there cause the turf is much softer than the cali tracks turf after talking to eoin harty he did not really like the hard turf surface and needs a change

American Lion is on the comeback trail. He worked 6f in 1:14 at Hollywood on 6-23.   
Apparently, American Lion is not retired after all. Saw him on Brisnet.com's Workout Patrol list for 5/25 (today). "Dual Grade 3 scorer AMERICAN LION (Tiznow), unraced since finishing 11th in the 2010 Kentucky Derby (G1), geared up for his four-year-old bow by clocking a half-mile in :50 1/5." ~ The Handicapper's Edge on Brisnet. So we might see him in action in mid- to late summer.
