What the Horse Racing Nation is saying about Americain...

I'm lovin' all the turf and stamina being established in Kentucky this upcoming breeding season. Americain (Dynaformer, out of Arazi mare), Brilliant Speed (Dynaformer, out of Gone West Mare), Bullet Train (Sadler's Wells, out of Danehill mare), and Letenor (Dynaformer, out of Carson City mare).... Notice 3/4th's of those are from Dynaformer. This is a great way to establish both turf excellence, and stamina/soundness back into American Racing!

  • Buckpasser · Goblin. From what I understand Stronach purchased interests in the breeding which was higher than the racing interest he purchased. That was what the articles I read said and of course the commentary from HRTV about it. · 93 days ago ·

  • Buckpasser · Goblin. Yes I reread the Jan. 18th article in Bloodhorse also from Shug that states Stronach bought 50 percent racing in POE and 100 percent breeding with the Phipps retaining a small part. · 93 days ago ·

Very nice to see Melbourne Cup winner and international racer Americain featured, paraded and introduced to the general population at BHP. What a beauty. And deserving of the attention. He's on his way to Calumet Farm for stud duties.

  • zxswordxz · Buckpasser...I saw this yesterday too and it was my exact thought. Bobby flay recognize it, now Calumet is heading in that direction. We need stamina and soundness in our US breeding shed. Today's Thoroughbred in the US can't give us a sound season without breaking down or can't go the distance. It is starting to give me hope that I might live to see a triple crown winner or even another one like MOW or Secretariat. · 158 days ago ·

  • Buckpasser · Hopefully he will be a good sire. Zxswordxz I have hope as well for a TC or at the very least some durable horses. Breeders of the past went to Europe and brought over the top horses to stand here and many of our classic winners came from the crossing of top American lines with European blood. · 158 days ago ·

More American stud news from abroad! BloodHorse (via racenet.com.au) reports that "Americain, winner of the 2010 Melbourn Cup (Aus-I), will spend the Northern Hemisphere breeding season in 2013 in Kentucky". Perhaps Dynaformer's male line will finally get established in America after all!--though we still have Point of Entry to look forward to, with his beautiful Phipps breeding. The article also quoted one of Americain's owners as saying "the owner of the farm [where Americain will stand, as yet undisclosed] is a big fan of Dynaformer...and has 30 mares himself that are suitable for Americain." Who says stamina is dead in America? :)

This was posted on RacingPost.com on Friday, 10-26-2012: Damien Oliver will ride Americain in the 2012 G1 Melbourne Cup after French jockey, Gerald Mosse, lost the mount on the 2010 winner of "the race that stops a nation". The story doesn't really elaborate beyond that? But I do know that Mosse has ridden a lot for trainer Alain De Royer-Dupre over the years in France. So something must have gone really wrong somewhere for Dupre to have pulled Mosse off of Americain?
Americain, a horse who failed to win a single start in four U.S. efforts, has hit his stride at longer distances, securing an upset victory Tuesday in the Emirates Melbourne Cup (Aus-G1). A Kentucky-bred five-year-old Dynaformer horse, Americain initially was campaigned in France by his breeder, the...Read More
CLOUDY'S KNIGHT (Lord Avie), who overcame a year-long layoff to take the Kentucky Cup Turf (G3) last month, will seek to make it two in a row when he heads a large cast to post in Thursday's $125,000 Sycamore S. (G3) at Keeneland. The 1 1/2-mile turf feature attracted 15 entrants, only 12 of which w...Read More
Grand Couturier heads into the $150,000 Bowling Green Handicap (gr. IIT) at Belmont Park Sept. 13 as the morning line favorite in spite of a fifth-place finish in Saratoga's Sword Dancer Invitational (gr. IT) last month that left trainer Robert Ribaudo a bit perplexed.Read More
Is it horse for course, or horse for race? Grand Couturier's success in stakes is lacking victories save for the Sword Dancer. The grade one turf marathon has been won twice by the 6-year-old and on Saturday, he goes for three.Read More
