  • yukichan · Any word on who Dragon's new rider will be? Tough call on Whyte. And good luck to Hunter--it's all about the break and staying focused on the ball! · 2 days ago ·

  • AmbitiousD · Sorry for the late response here. Champion Italian jockey, Umberto Rispoli has the mount on Ambitious Dragon this Sunday. He hasn't been super successful in HK this season, but if Millard believes in him, then so do I. · 18 hours ago ·

After a disappointing 4th place finish in the BMW Champions Mile, there was a bit of a fallout between the trainer, Tony Millard and HK champion jockey Doug Whyte. Its a shame that the trainer is blaming the loss on the Whyte's ride, which was the result of an infraction from another horse (that jockey was suspended for 3 days). The country's focus is on a soap opera, rather than the next steps for the horse. Either way, it looks like he wont be racing again until the fall, and yet another year will pass without a HK Triple Crown winner, and when he returns he will have to find a replacement rider for the best jockey in Hong Kong.

There were few surprises in the draw. MARITIMER, Canada’s juvenile champion, did draw in to the main body of the UAE Derby field after Boby Di Job was not entered. Defending Dubai Golden Shaheen champion Rocket Man drew the rail in his attempt to become the first repeat winner of the race since Call...Read More

My boy is racing tonight in the second leg of the Hong Kong triple crown. Best of luck to him in the 10f Hong Kong Gold Cup!!
From Dubairacenight.com: After beating Xtension and California Memory, barely off the bridal, over the weekend at Sha Tin in the Stewards Cup, it's just been announced that it's possible Ambitious Dragon will run in the G1 Dubai Duty Free on world cup night on March 31st!!!
He's back to his winning ways showing another impressive turn of foot, easily pulling away in the first leg of the Hong Kong Triple Crown, the 8f Steward's Cup.

Entries are posted for the Cathay Pacific Hong Kong International Races. If even 1 or 2 big name internationals show up in the Hong Kong Cup to face off against the Dragon I will be extremely excited. http://www.hkjc.com/english/corporate/racing_news_item.asp?in_file=/english/news/2011-10/news_2011101801448.html
Finished second in Jockey Club Mile.
  • AmbitiousD · Still great, even in the loss by a nose. Gave 5 lbs to the winner and was 4 wide through the entire turn. Overall, I think the prep will be great for the Hong Kong International Cup in December · 183 days ago ·

My boy is getting some love in the worldwide thoroughbred rankings! Up to 18th and starting to mix it with some well known names. http://www.horseracingintfed.com/resources/2011Rankings/2011_1020_WTR.asp
He took his seventh straight in a hand ridden win in the Group 3 7f National Day Cup. He is truly a beast and his closing turn of foot resembles some of the best in the US and Europe. http://racing.hkjc.com/racing/video/play.asp?type=replay-full&date=20111001&no=08&lang=eng

Hong Kong Horse of the Year!! Congratulations to this great gelding and his connections.
I have had the pleasure of watching this horse win 2 times this year in Hong Kong, and wanted to share some info from racing in Asia. He has won 7 races in 8 starts this season in Hong Kong including his most recent 3 straight G1 victories. I hope his connections bring him to some larger scale races to give the world some more visibility into his talents.
