What the Horse Racing Nation is talking about...

The Juvenile Fillies (G1) is the only Breeders' Cup race without any European-based contenders, and the 12-horse field looks extremely contentious. The Juvenile Fillies Turf is the only event on Friday to draw a full field, with two runners on the also-eligibles list, and I'll side with a well-regar...Read More
A year ago trainer Bob Baffert won the Breeders' Cup Juvenile and Sprint. On Sunday his horses swept Santa Anita's first four races after going 2 for 2 Saturday. Sure looks as if Baffert has figured out this synthetic-track business. More evidence: Of his four-horse contingent for the Breeders' Cup ...Read More
With the Breeders' Cup fast approaching, we'll take a look at the final premiere preps for the Juvenile Fillies (G1) and Juvenile Fillies Turf. Home field advantage: The top two in the October 4 Oak Leaf (G1) at Santa Anita, BLIND LUCK (Pollard's Vision) and ALWAYS A PRINCESS (Leroidesanimaux [Brz])...Read More
  • Rossington · Lillie Langtry looks like the filly to beat in the Juvenile Fillies Turf. Already with 6 starts and having won the Debutante Stakes a Group 2 event, and finishing 3rd in the Moyglare Stud Stakes, a Group 1 event, she look's like a proven filly against a basically unproven group of contenders. · 131 days ago
The favorite from the Oak Leaf Stakes (gr. I) at Santa Anita, where the Breeders' Cup World Championships will be run, is in the field for the Grey Goose Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I) on Nov. 6. So, too, is the favorite from the Darley Alcibiades (gr. I) at Keeneland, which is also run on a...Read More
Careless Jewel (pictured) and Zensational both uncorked bullets over the Pro-Ride surface on Oct. 27th, as they continue preparations for the upcoming Breeders' Cup World Championships at Santa Anita Park on Nov. 6-7. Read More
  • Rossington · With the exception of Rachael Alexandra, there's not a doubt in my mind that Carless Jewel is the next best 3yr.old filly in America. Given how impressive she's looked in her last 3 or 4 outings, I'm not so sure she wouldn't take it right to Rachael Alexandra as well. She's shown more talent, maybe with the exception of Summer Bird of late than any of the other males and all of the females that R.A. has raced. Hopefully, since R.A. is dodging, oops, I meant skipping the Breeders Cup races we'll get to see these two lock horns sometime next year as 4yr.olds. I anxiously await. · 137 days ago
This is the second in a series of blogs featuring the 2009 Breeders’ Cup, to be held at Santa Anita Park on November 6th and 7th. I will look at each division in the coming days and weeks, and today is the juvenile fillies turn. Read More
Mark DeDomencio LLC, John Carver and Jerry Hollendorfer's BLIND LUCK (Pollard's Vision) suffered the first loss of her career when just a length back of Mi Sueno (Pulpit) in the Darley Debutante (G1) last out, but got back to her winning ways in Grade 1 fashion on Sunday in Santa Anita's $300,000 Oa...Read More
The Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) will make a second straight appearance at Santa Anita on November 6, and history suggests that this year's winner will be based in Southern California. West Coast lasses won the first three runnings of the race on the old dirt track at Santa Anita, and Stardom...Read More
