What the Horse Racing Nation is saying about Allybar...

The largest group of European equine invaders in the last seven years remains on schedule for an Atlantic crossing in time for the upcoming Grade I Arlington Million now two and a half weeks away on Aug. 21.   That list is headed by Kirsten Rausing’s Lady Jane Digby, a 5-year-old mare who defe...Read More
Kirsten Rausing’s Lady Jane Digby, a 5-year-old mare who drew clear late for a one-length score against male rivals in last Sunday’s Group I Grosser Dallmayr-Preis Bayerisches-Zuchtrennen at Germany’s Munich Racecourse, is now expected to challenge the boys once again in the Grade I Arlington Milli...Read More
After a stellar winter at the 2010 Dubai International Racing Carnival and a short-neck loss in the 2010 Dubai World Cup (G1), Allybar returned to the races with an uninspiring eleventh of twelve in the Prince Of Wales’s Stakes (G2).  The Mahmood Al Zarooni-charge will give it another shot...Read More
There is always plenty to talk about after the Dubai World Cup. This year, with the multi-billion-dollar Meydan Racecourse making its prime-time debut, there’s even more to talk about than usual.Unlike the misnamed Breeders’ Cup World Championships, the Dubai World Cup program truly is a "world" eve...Read More
One of the most impressive performances of the 2010 Dubai Racing Carnival at Meydan belongs to this colt. After racing primarily in France, this colt really burst onto the world stage during this year's Carnival at Dubai. Beating Presvis and Zulu Chief in the Al Tayer Motors Handicap. Then winning the Al Maktoum Challenge Rd. 2, finishing a very creditable 4th in the Al Maktoum Challenge Rd. 3, and was right there at the line, having split Gloria De Cameao and Lizard's Desire and was in the three way photo for the 2010 Dubai World Cup. Allybar ultimately finished 3rd. But in a photo that was so close between Gloria De Campeao and Lizard's Desire, no one would've been surprised to have seen the official photo called a "dead heat." Allybar would've then been moved up to 2nd. But all and all, other than Gloria De Campeao's Carnival, Allybar is the horse who's Carnival impressed me almost as much. JMO.
THE first Dubai World Cup at billion-dollar Meydan ended in a dramatic finish as last year's runner-up Gloria De Campeao (Pascal Bary/TJ Pereira) just held on in the tightest of three-way photos. Representing French trainer Pascal Bary, the six-year-old - a 16-1 chance with British bookmakers - took...Read More
  • medlocke · The photo between Gloria De Campeao and Lizard's Desire is so close, even after seeing it several times, I really don't know how they didn't come to the conclusion that the 2010 Dubai World Cup was a dead heat. Allybar was also right there in between GDP and LD, just missing by a whisker himself. Gio Ponti got up for fourth, but had to go very wide to do so. Just nosing out Mastery at the line in a very close finish for 4th and 5th. Gitano Hernando got boxed in on the rail and had a terrible trip. He looked full of run, but never really got to unwind it. By the time GH did get into the clear, it was far too late. The two biggest disappointments of the race, to me, were Twice Over and Vision D'Etat. Vision D'Etat, one of the best international stakes horses in the world, clearly did not adapt to the Tapeta synthetic surface and finished far back. It was VD first lifetime start off of the turf. · 1154 days ago ·

There was plenty of praise and exaultation for the champion, Gloria De Campeao, the Brazilian-bred son of Argentine-sire Impression, a winner by the slimmest of discernable margins in the $10 million Dubai World Cup (G1).  The winner of the Maktoum Challenge - R1 (G3), and a tough second parall...Read More
It looks as though a full field of 14 runners will contest the $10 million Dubai World Cup (UAE-I)--the world's richest horse race--March 27 at Meydan Racecourse.Though entries will not be drawn until next week, the maximum number of starters is expected for the 10-furlong race over the Tapeta surfa...Read More
  • Rossington · I've never seen Vision D'Etat race over any surface except turf in his racing career, so I really don't know what to expect out of him over the Tapeta surface at Meydan. I will say this, that other than a poor finish in the 09' Prix d' le Arc', he's been one of the most "clutch" racing for big money Group or Grade 1 horses in the world in 2009. With victories in the Prix Ganay, The Prince of Wales Stakes, and the Pacific Hong Kong Cup, beating a star-studded field that yielded Presvis, Collection, Ashalanda, and Eagle Mountain but to name a few. He also has one 2nd place finish to Spanish Moon in the 09' Prix Foy, and one 3rd place finish to Trincot and The Bogberry in the 09' Prix harcourt. If Vision D'Etat adapts and run's well over the Tapeta surface, Gio Ponti and Twice over, already proven stayers on synthetics, may be his only real challenges. But if he struggles on the surface, as did Prix Neil and Arc 3rd place finisher Cavalryman, than the race may become a wide open one. JMO. · 1165 days ago ·
