A Grade II for older fillies and mares at 1 1/16 miles over Cushion Track, the Milady is the more lucrative of two stakes Hollywood Park will offer Saturday. The oth...Read More

  • ErinAnderson · A nice piece on whats in store the next couple of months, but there is a correction needed to be noted on Alex's Moon's races up north. It was the Portland Oaks and Portland Derby at Portland Meadows in Oregon. · 1102 days ago ·

The year 2009 will best be remembered as it pertains to the Kentucky Oaks by Rachel Alexandra’s jaw-dropping 20 ¼ length victory, but one other very significant ritual was inaugurated for the 135th running of the Kentucky Oaks. • KyOaksRunner · It's going to be a fantastic race, and what a great field entered in a race that honors one of the greatest 3-year-old fillies of all time. I think Kathmanblu is the class of the field though Inglorious is pretty intriguing. · 1158 days ago ·

Turbulent Descent may have set a new stakes record in the Santa Anita Oaks (gr.1) on Saturday but the talented 3-year-old Congrats filly has unfortunately been removed from consideration for the Kentucky Oaks on May 6th. She will instead be pointed for one turn races throughout the year where traine...Read More
  • zatt · Kathmanblu remains my top choice ... I was surprised to see she is 12-1 on the Oaks Pool ML. I am not sure who I like 2nd best between Dancing, Zazu and Tricky, my guess is Dancing but I will have to see how she rebounds from a dull performance in the Davona Dale. I do not think R Heat wants 9 furlongs at Churchill. I already placed a future bet on Inglorious for the Queen's Plate :) · 1135 days ago ·

  • KyOaksRunner · I was very sursprised her odds were so high as well, I can't figure how they placed her behind R Heat Lightning, Dacninginherdreams and Zazu, it's pretty clear she's the leader of the division right now. Dancinginherdreams is definitely me second choice for the Oaks right now, I think she could end up beind better than Kathmanblu. Unfortunately I felt she should be dropped a spot because Zazu has been running so well and her last race she appeared to flatten out in the stretch. I'm hoping Inglorious heads for the Oaks, it would make for an exceptionally strong field if the majority of these fillies wind up in the gate. · 1135 days ago ·

The Davona Dale Stakes was supposed to be a celebration of Dancinginherdreams but instead Todd Pletcher brought one of his fillies in to crash the party and make a very serious case for her Kentucky Oaks worthiness.Read More

  • KyOaksRunner · @Brian - That we do! Yes, I finally got to see It's Tricky's win and it was impressive to say the least, do you happen to have a link to her Busher win, I lost it somewhere along the line. · 1143 days ago ·

  • KyOaksRunner · @Mary - From all I've been able to gather it looks to me like Awesome Feather is coming out of her injury very sound. Personal Ensign went on to become one of the greatest filly of the modern age after a serious injury so there's still hope. :) I have faith. · 1143 days ago ·

Kathmanblu has left no doubt as to whom America’s leading sophomore filly is in 2011, regardless of the surface. To start out the year she came from well off the pace to win the Sweetest Chant Stakes on the turf and on Saturday she took control of the Rachel Alexandra Stakes (gr.3) at the head of th...Read More

  • KyOaksRunner · I love It's Tricky, unfortunately I haven't been able to see her race yet and I didn't want to list her without having been able to see it for myself but she has been on my "dark horse list" since her last win. I think she has a lot of potential and I love the way she draws off when she wins. · 1151 days ago ·

In 2007 a beautiful chestnut filly by A. P. Indy broke from the gates in the third leg of the Triple Crown, stumbled badly and almost fell to her knees. Barely missing a beat she picked herself right up and went on to become the first filly in more than 100 years to win the Belmont Stakes. She defea...Read More

  • mshutty · Great blog, Brian! Welcome to HorseRacingNation! Really like this list you have put together. Keep an eye on Zazu, She's gangly, clumsy sort right now but she's all power and when she matures a bit and puts it all together, this will be a good one. She's fun to watch race. · 1163 days ago ·

  • KyOaksRunner · Thank you very much! I love Zazu and think she is maturing at exactly the right time, I love how she seemed to improve with each of her last races in such easy progression. If she ever gets into the starting gate with Dancinginherdreams it could be a really nice race to watch, both closers and both appear white. · 1163 days ago ·
