What the Horse Racing Nation is saying about Albergatti...

Uncle Brent, who was one of the most impressive maiden winners of the Oaklawn Park meet, became a stakes winner on the final card of the program Saturday, when he darted to a 1 3/4-length win over Albergatti in the $100,000 Northern Spur. The Northern Spur was one of two stakes supporting the Grade ...Read More
In a race that looked to be quite wide open going in, Premier Pegasus turned today’s San Felipe Stakes into an absolute romp. Stamping himself as perhaps the second favorite for the Kentucky Derby behind only Uncle Mo, PrePeg romped to a 7 ¾ length runaway win in the quarter of a million, grade 2 af...Read More

  • zatt · Yes, I always liked him too, but ... I must admit, you liked him even more ;-) · 1214 days ago ·
  • jinlie01 · Since PrePeg seems to be pointed to SA Derby..where would Riveting Reason go for his next start? I read that Cho was thinking Sunland Derby? Any ideas or news on this? · 1211 days ago ·
Premier Pegasus jumped to the head of the West Coast Kentucky Derby class with a romping 7-3/4 length score in Saturday's San Felipe Stakes at Santa Anita Park. Albergatti and an overbet Runflatout broke the gate running and set taxing fractions of :21.75 and :44.58. Comma To The Top sat just off th...Read More

  • icyhotboo · He had a perfect trip(understatement),was in against sprinters with the exception of two who made their first start of 2011,Jaycito and Awsome Patriot ,how could he look bad? Still don't know where he's at as CTTT could only bring him a mile before he was through. That left him even better than "loose on the lead" as the only horse in the race who could get the distance of 1 1/16 mile.He looked good but others still have to be heard from. · 1215 days ago ·
  • footlick · As usual Baffert used this race to get a feel for Jaycito. Look for a mucj improved race next out. Premier Pegasus looked good. Comma did well after being close to that ridiculous pace. · 1215 days ago ·
Albergatti has a miler pedigree. His dam won five of seven starts, including a listed stakes at six furlongs. She’s a half sister to West Virginia Derby hero Soul Warrior.
The San Felipe boasts a cast of characters loaded with intrigue. Top billing on the marquee goes to a quartet of proven stakes winners.Read More

  • BrianZipse · I am expecting improvement from him as well. Interestingly, Quinonez had his choice on two of the favorites, and he chose PrePeg over Bench Points. You can see a video interview on that decision over on Marc Doche's SoCal Scoop blog. · 1217 days ago ·
  • KyOaksRunner · I think Jaycito is more than willing to completely steal the show in the Felipe but I'll be rooting for Bench Points. I'm not sure how prepared he'll be coming off just a 6F race but I'lve really liked his winning style so far. · 1217 days ago ·
Back in 2007, Tiz Wonderful looked like the perfect Kentucky Derby prospect. He had speed, he had size and he had a stride that seemed to stretch to the horizon. His trainer, Steve Asmussen, loved the colt. He took pride in all those training titles he had won, but Asmussen would also...Read More
This year's San Felipe is a wide-open affair that figures to answer all kinds of questions. Will we see the Jaycito that won the Norfolk last year? Can Bench Points go two turns and be this year's Caracortado? What happened to Comma To The Top last time? Are maiden winners Runflatout and Albergatti ...Read More
  • matt11610 · Albergatti will run a big race. His dam was an unbelievable race horse and Albergatti has her speed. Watch him take it around two turns. · 1218 days ago ·
Looking for a Derby horse flying under the radar? Try these twenty colts on for size… Albergatti (Unbridled’s Song - My Miss Storm Cat by Sea of Secrets) After a hard fought maiden loss, the grey Stonestreet runner came back with a snappy win at seven furlongs. Look for him in a stakes race next out...Read More

Hutcheson Stakes (gr. II) winner Flashpoint will point for the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I), but will not be taking the traditional route getting there, said Peachtree Stable president John Fort, who also issued a challenge to the connections of San Vicente (gr. II) winner The Fac...Read More
running in San Felipe off only a maiden win. Replaced Astrology in the spot. Asmussen may see this as his most probable "Derby Horse". He's good but will face a tough task with the first two turner being against proven horses like Jaycito.

  • montime1 · I know this that the top 20 contenders for the derby now will not all be there on derby day, there will be some surprises · 1231 days ago ·
  • ScottDick · I try to stay away from paying to much attention to Beyer speed figures when talking three year olds, there's always so much improvement from race to race to throw out a horse because of a low Beyer. · 1231 days ago ·
Very fast win. Time was only .32 slower than The Factor and was not pushed too hard. Want to see more distance but excellent race last time.
Keep an eye on this one, can improve fast!
Albergatti got a 90 Beyer fig breaking his maiden on Saturday at Santa Anita.
