Where is he?
He is back in training after "not fullfilling his potential" at stud. He did get 25 mares in foal...

  • Northport · I am reading that Mr. Deer was able to negotiate with the insurance company to buy Al Kazeem back, rather than the Queen continuing to own him · 1086 days ago
Al Kazeem will stand at the Royal Studs at the conclusion of his racing career - http://bloodstock.racingpost.com/news/bloodstock/al-kazeem-to-stand-at-the-royal-studs/1532747/
Trainer Roger Charlton reports Al Kazeem is Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe bound and will be ridden by James Doyle.

  • Northport · October 6th cannot come soon enough!! Although if the ground is too fast that may be an issue for Al Kazeem · 1319 days ago
  • Euro Trash · The ground is rarely too fast at Longchamp on Arc day. If his connections are right and he will act better on softer ground then he should get it. · 1319 days ago
Trainer Roger Charlton told AtTheRaces.com that since fast ground is likely to prevail at Leopardstown on Saturday that Al Kazeem may skip running in the G1 Irish Champion Stakes and instead head to Longchamp to run in the G2 Prix Foy over 12f on September 15th instead. That may not be a bad move on Charlton's part, IMO. Since the Arc has always been the main end of season target for Al Kazeem and given that he hasn't ran at 12f since winning the G2 Jockey Club Stakes back in May, 2012, a run in the Prix Foy might better prepare Al Kazeem for the Arc in early October.
  • kaitlinefree1 · i was going to say, they better be considering running this horse in the Arc. · 1332 days ago
  • Northport · The Arc has been his goal since the year began, but since there is rain forecasted this weekend at Leopardstown they may be referring back to the original plan · 1332 days ago
Hypothetically, if a person claiming they were psychic had said to you Al Kazeem will win the Jockey Club Stakes at Newmarket but he'll sustain an injury during the race that will sideline him for a year. But when he returns in a year he'll win the Gordon Richards Stakes, Tattersalls Gold Cup, Prince of Wales's Stakes, Coral-Eclipse, and he'll very likely go to post as the race favorite for the Juddmonte International Stakes. How much would you have bet that psychic there was no way in hell all of that would happen?
AtTheRaces.Com reported on their web-site yesterday that Al Kazeem is confirmed to run next in the G1 Juddmonte International Stakes at York on August 21st. Given his ability to even see out 12f races I think the extended 10f at York will suit Al Kazeem right down to the ground!!
And the countdown until Darley buys the breeding rights beginnnnssss NOW
Trainer Roger Charlton announced to the racing media today that he and the connections of Al Kazeem have reversed field and have now decided he'll run in the G1 Coral-Eclipse over 10f at Sandown instead of the G1 King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes over 12f at Ascot as was initially stated as the next target post-Prince of Wales's Stakes. Charlton said the ultimate goal is to get Al Kazeem to the G1 Prix De l'Arc De Triomphe in October, they've just decided to take a different route in getting there. Charlton said the Coral-Eclipse followed by the G1 Irish Champion Stakes at Leopardstown in September are now the 2 races Al Kazeem is being aimed at before heading to Longchamp in October. Al Kazeem's never had any problems seeing out 12f, but he's looked so good this season at 10f in the Gordon Richards Stakes, Tattersalls Gold Cup, and Prince of Wales's Stakes that I guess they figure if ain't broke, don't fix it. Prince of Wales's Stakes 2nd, Mukhadram, is likely to reopse Al Kazeem at Sandown in the Coral-Eclipse.

  • Euro Trash · St Nicholas Abbey has become such a solid performer. You cannot help but root for him when he runs. Very honest. · 1403 days ago
  • On The Gallop's · I like St.Nic, but I think he will be beat in the KG this year, and as far as Al Kazeem is concerned, I am surprised they are trying the ARC. I would have thought the Eclipse/Irish Champions/Champions Stakes would be his curtain call for the season. Best of luck, he has the talent. · 1403 days ago
How many more times does he have to beat Camelot?
  • Show All 4 Comments
  • Northport · he pulled three shoes in the arc and had without a doubt the toughest season of any horse in the field, being asked to come back from the first English triple crown attempt in years right to the arc. I personally think he was a bit overrated last year, but I think he still may get better as this season progresses. · 1408 days ago
  • Euro Trash · Aiden has not been wroking him hard at home. Because of his illness and operation, he has been treading lightly. He was hoping that racing him would get him fitter. After this race he said he will have to start working him harder. He hopes this will not produce a setback in his health, but it will be necessary if Camelot is to be competitive in these races. He is not the greatest horse, but he is fully capable of winning gr1 races still if he recovers fully. If not, he will go to stud. A son of Montjeu is always welcome in the breeding world.. · 1408 days ago
