  • Sullivan · You'll have to share the reasoning behind that with me... not only is the synthetic better, safer, and more fair, but the Sheik already won on it with Monterosso · 122 days ago
Wow, 17-1 seems like a really big price for African Story to end up going off at race time for a horse who's been one of the most consistent performers on Meydan's tapeta surface for the past 3 Dubai Carnivals now. African Story had legitimate excuses for his poor performance in the G1 Al Maktoum Challenge Rd. 3. Just prior to the gates opening he had banged his head on the starting stall and literally concussed himself. Ran that whole race with a mild concussion according to what I had read. I suspect the big price may have been in large part due to this was really the 1st time in 3 attemps at 10f that African Story proved he can get that trip. He hinted that he could when he finished 5th behind Animal Kingdom in last year's DWC, but after what happened to him prior to the running of the AMC Rd. 3 three weeks ago it was still not entirely certain he'd stay 10f until today. First class ride by Silvestre De Sousa. A fantastic effort in 2nd from the Shadwell horse Mukhadram, himself also coming off a layoff of 5+ months from the G1 Champion Stakes at Ascot back in October, and maybe the guttest performance of the race belongs to the Godolphin horse Cat O'Mountain who managed to fly home for 3rd breaking all the way from PP #15. The amazing thing about the 3rd place finish for Cat O'Mountain is prior to coming to Dubai this year he had never raced above handicap level in the UK, and now he's made the frame in the world's richest race.

  • Euro Trash · I was very surprised at Cat O"Mountain's performance. Great to see that his connections did not lose faith in him and they were rewarded. · 122 days ago
Sure couldn't tell this horse had been off the track for 10+ months. Much the best in the G3 Burj Nahaar.
