  • Sullivan · The 70's were a turning point from the old racing to the new racing, and in their collision there happened a couple of horses who benefited from both the old stamina and new speed · 1042 days ago
  • travel_vic · that difference was the WHOLESALE drugging of the breed. Disgusting · 1041 days ago
i hope they sell him for horse meat. He is a terrible stallion

With the Belmont coming up and a Triple Crown on the line. I am curious to read which horses were the best 3 year olds since 1990?. Rank your own personal top 5.
His Preakness is one of the best I've seen!

  • RichChatter · Haha. I was using that name for years. I didn't use it for a military reference, though. And I am the farthest thing possible from a naval officer dude XD And thank you. I never have been good at taking compliments. But thanks. haha · 1460 days ago

With the Rebel Stakes coming up, this race reminds me of the worst performance for Afleet Alex. This would be his lone off-the-board finish. Otherwise, always a contender. Where are you, Lazmannick? I miss you. And your absence is starting to worry me. Still hoping the best for you, Laz. Try and keep me posted.

  • travel_vic · THIS one had a great future ahead of him: lots of potential to do amazing things, but we were robbed of ever seeing that come to fruition. The Preakness alone screamed what this colt was all about. · 1504 days ago
  • bigbill859 · at ont time your track /pim/ was about to loos the preakness no money there need to win the triple crown and horse racing will be back · 1504 days ago
His Preakness is probably the best comeback race ever after Scrappy T cut him off. Was an all-heart preformance.

  • CreativeCause · Don't forget Afleet Express, or Afleet again in his breeders cup Marathon run. I get that they weren't great, but they still won big races. · 1551 days ago

  • travel_vic · If you do not have a plan of attack distinct from your handicapping, then I know I am talking to a beginner at this game. · 1558 days ago
  • cocoa2 · Plan of attack? I just like watching the horses. When "I" bet it's usually a show bet just for a winning ticket. I've only tried two vertical bets, both exactas. One idiot one at Hawthorne where we found out after that the horses we picked (3rd and 4th place of course) were the two biggest longshots. ROFL. · 1558 days ago
Rates an A++ with Zenyatta. Could be another great cross.

  • travel_vic · this one, at three, HAD the potential of being a very very good one, but we will never know. · 1563 days ago
He REALLY should have won the triple crown!! His closeing kicks seemed to be legendary!!
  • Show All 7 Comments
  • travel_vic · He was too late, energy wise, for the standards for 10 furlongs at Churchill. He had the talent to overcome that, BUT, as per usual, late movers have poor shots with both traffic and trhe rider's BEST GUESS on when to move. Moved a tad prematurely and petered out. · 1715 days ago
  • LAZMANNICK · Ruffian friends alwasy wish the best for their friends. · 1715 days ago

I can see three of his sons are running in the Travers, Afleet Express, Afleet Again and Admiral Alex. Good Luck! This horse had to miss the Travers when he was 3, but maybe he'll be the sire of a Travers winner
hmm? he raced well under rose but velazquez we see a sixth, probably the jockeys fault
Alex was one of the most dominant Belmont winners of recent years... with maybe only Point Given more impressive in the last 15 years. Still think Jeremy Rose moved way too soon in the Derby... causing him to run up on horses and have not enough left to hold off Giacomo and Closing Argument due to that scorching pace. Still ran a magnificent race to be third.
