Older Comments about Acclamation...

i would think this horse should be in the top 75 all time rankings, maybe im wrong but def a top tier turf horse of all time, i think the current horses' ratings skew the rankins a bit for the all time lits on here. I miss acclamation.

  • Mary Z. · Another thing is, he was very good that one streak of graded stakes wins, not all-time great no matter how much I love him. · 248 days ago
  • jerzmade · Ahhh see now that wasnt hard. Thank you, understandable words in a sentence. You had me thinking i was reading a tellatubby talk with the gigles, sorry i was just lost. But i did notice Acclamation didnt really venture out into different tracks than cali and ran most of the same stakes every year. When i get some free time i'll haveta check back and read some old threads maybe ill get the inside jokes. Thanks and have a great one! · 247 days ago
Seeing so many horses get better as they age- it just makes me wonder how good some of these three year olds who retire could be at 4, 5, or 6 years old. It really is a huge question mark. Union Rags, Hansen, I'll Have Another, Bodemeister, Shanghai Bobby, Verrazano, Orb, Eskendreya, Violence, the list could go on and on. What if all of these never got injured/retired and just kept improving year after year? Racing would be so different than it is now. Buckpasser said it exactly right when he said- we used breed to race and now we race to breed. It is such a shame as we keep breeding unsound horses to create more unsound horses who will not last past 3 years old and just think of how great the sport could be if these guys could run as long as the geldings do. Thank god we have the fillies/mares and horses like Game on Dude, Wise Dan, etc otherwise who would we watch!
  • ruffianlover · Owners think theyre lucky if they have a horse make it through their third year without injury and rush them off to stud before they lose a breeding prospect. It really is too bad. · 413 days ago
  • Dressage3295 · As sad as it is, there's more money in breeding today than there is in racing · 413 days ago
confirmation?
How is he doing?
Enjoy your retirement big guy, you're gonna be missed. No need to return to racing for you have done enough and the injury sustained is one that should not be tested any further.

  • likin sparks · What I respect the most is that he went out top of his game and wasn't run to the ground like so many are after they've peaked or simply lost the desire to race. · 745 days ago

A story on the front page of Sunday's Bloodstock Journal, www.brisnet.com, says that Acclamation is out of the Breeders Cup Turf again this year after heat was discovered in his left foreleg, according to his trainer Don Warren. How convenient that once again with the BC Turf looming that leg sprain flares up. I'm not saying that Acclamation's connections and Don Warren are trying dodge a head to head meeting with Point of Entry and several top European contenders at Santa Anita. Well yes, actually that's actually what I'm saying. Because he always seems to be find right up until time for the Breeders Cup and then the leg problem magically appears. I think Warren's just trying to save face from the pounding Acclamation's likely to take against those types of horses in the BC Turf myself.

  • zxswordxz · @Footlick - I see your point of view and agreed that he is a high caliber horse in CA. I've been a horse racing fan for a very long time, and I also have favorites but I try not to be subjective when judging their career. But this is a fan website so a lot or 99% of these comments will be subjective but some people take it way too personal. · 809 days ago
  • footlick · @zxswordxz- that is exactly my point. The BC is in CA, on his home turf. He is not the one dimensional horse that Precious Passion was. He was a legitimate threat on that course to anyone at 12f. So, I feel I am being objective. At Santa Anita, the way the turf course is configured and how firm it usully is, or at least has been this year, i feel there is not a classier 12f horse in America. I on;t think Point of Entry has ever encountered a course like that. But Acclamation was at home there. I like Point of Entry, mainly because of his connections, as I have followed racing for a long time too and always favored Phipps horses. But I will not deny the talent of Acclamation and the importance of having home field advantage in the BC. Many a horse has been undone by the CA turf. JMO. · 809 days ago

Latest news from the Thoroughbread Times reports Acclamation has been diagnosed with a "mild strain" in a ligament in his left front pastern. The connections are not sure as of now when he'll return to training but they hope to have him for the Breeders Cup...IMO that's cutting it really close.
On the polytrack Dullahan will race to victory.

Great Californian-bred!!!!
I cannot wait until Acclamation, Silver Max, and Summer Front sqaure off in the Breeders Cup Turf. It should be exciting to see the 3 year olds try to match up with this Turf Beast!!!

  • Mary Z. · manutim, keep up the great work with Acclamation. I hope he makes it to the BC Turf Classic. He'll be my pick, and yes, I'm saying that this far in advance. · 879 days ago
  • Mary Z. · I know Acclamation is retiring after this year and I wish he wouldn't, but total fantasy, I'd love for him to come back at age seven and smash the hell out of that Cougar II Handicap, because 2:29.22 would elapse with Acclamation already headed to the winner's circle. Too bad it's a grade 3. · 879 days ago
this horse already prove that he can beat Game On Dude I think he should be rated higher!!!!!
GOD has beat him. Why is he being rated better? Maybe it was a fluke, but I hear the fields he races in a sub par.
