What the Horse Racing Nation is saying about A. P. Indy...

Hoppertunity made the most of his Kentucky Derby 2014 prep opportunity in a rough renewal of the Rebel Stakes at Oaklawn Park.Read More
Honor Code, no longer Rebel bound, makes his 3yo debut on Wednesday as Shug McGaughey's one top Kentucky Derby candidate still standing.Read More
You can better believe that Shug will not do anything without Honor Code signaling his readiness. I say trust in Shug. Trust in him to do what is right by his charge. Read More

  • tmallios1 · Never debated that Paul. That is why he is in the Hall Of Fame. But mainly because he called the shots on all of the horses, not some rich Wannabees who enjoy seeing their names in print. Shug is not only that great of a trainer,he is a classy person. · 63 days ago ·

So in the top 100, A.P only has 4 horses. Honor Code, Powerful, Indy's Illusion, and Personal Ensign.... Is that it????? His kids are going to be gone racing before we know it!

  • tmallios1 · Absolutely agree with all the comments. In regards to his incredible success as a sire. When i was in the buisiness,i was told that the important feature was the throat. If a horse could not get normal air flow, all the rest was irrelevant. The vet we used also worked on Indy as well as many other All time greats. His knickname for him was affectionately "The Grand Canyon" . A major reason for his Stamina prodgeny. On the race track , at his very best. Indy was incomparable with his contemporaries. He truly was one of the All Time greats. · 129 days ago ·

It’s not often that the very best racehorses can reproduce the kind of success they had on the race track, in the breeding shed. Take Charge Lady is one such special case. • Mike in SB · 1993 was one of the greatest years for American Turf horses with both Lure and Horse of the Year Kotashaan, and another top turf horse Bien Bien who I believe was a son of the great Manila. I remember seeing Kotashaan beating Bien Bien by a nose in the 1 3/4 mile San Juan Capistrano and later winning by a neck or so in the Breeders Cup Turf. Super group of turf horses that year. · 170 days ago ·

  • kentuckyderbypost · Big fan of this decision simply because the connections are wise enough to do what they feel is best. And that's all i need to know. The BC is a great event but not pressing the issue with a Juvenile can be a very good decision down the road · 172 days ago ·

  • Mike in SB · I don't believe racing as a 2 year old hurts a horse's chances in the big races as a 3 year old. If you look at the champion 2 year olds in the pre lasix past, most had great 3 year old seasons, including all the Triple Crown winners from the 1970's. I believe the main difference is the Breeders Cup. It takes a different kind of horse to win the Juvenile, many winners are early developing speed horses. When the races get longer the next year, these horses have trouble competing with the top colts. · 172 days ago ·

Let us not forget that there are others out there with as much promise and potential.Tap it Rich , Noble Moon , Almost Famous and Havana to name a few. I personally have my rooting favorites from the horses mentioned above. They are Famous and Noble Moon. Staying up north though. As much as i am not sure how Havana will run in the Jeuvenile,i was hoping he'd sit back and point for the Remsen.I think at least up to 1 1/8th of a mile,he or Noble Moon would be the dangers due to their early pace. Doubt they would have a sprinter in the race to nag them along the way. · 181 days ago ·

  • Sully · I have to agree with ZATT. I truly hope they consider the Belmont because Incognito is definitely a horse on the improve. I think he'll like the added ground, and hopefully would be more forwardly placed as well. The only reason I didn't choose him over Saint Vigeur (SV) was because I simply felt SV ran against tougher. I was biting my nails when he came skimming up the rail though, I have to admit. Thought he was going to catch Abraham in the lane. · 342 days ago ·
