Triple Crown Winners

The Triple Crown of horse racing consists of the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes. It traditionally starts on the First Saturday in May with the Kentucky Derby, then two weeks later with the Preakness Stakes followed by the Belmont Stakes three weeks after that.

Who will win Kentucky Derby 2014?  Check out the contenders!

The Triple Crown of horse racing is considered the most elusive feat in horse racing, and perhaps in all of sports. The 11 Triple Crown Winners are listed below.  I'll Have Another was the latest horse to win two legs of the Triple Crown, only to scratch the day before the 2012 Belmont Stakes.

  • footlick · Forward Pass did win the Preakness and finished second in the Belmont. Would have been even more controversy if he won the Belmont. · 503 days ago ·

  • kay.robinett · I have heard all sorts of conspiracy theories about Dancer's Image and his Derby. Most involve politics and the Civil Rights Movement. Supposedly the colt was given bute far enough before the race that it should have been cleared from his system on race day. I suppose it is one of those foggy things (like Man o' War and Secretariat both being rumored to have been on race day drugs) where we will never know what really went down... · 503 days ago ·

I think we might see a TC this year. A bunch of great colts out there.

  • edgaropena · @ Kay- very good perspective. I also have my doubts there will ever be a tc any time soon for the same reasons mentioned. In addition, look at I'll have Another, who almost won this years tc, but was sold and sent to Japan, States individual handle with drugs, Churchill Downs creating a ridiculous points system prior to be Derby- few examples of a failed business model with no on real leadership. · 544 days ago ·

Everyone watch out for 2014, the horse by Curlin-Rachel Alexandra will be the next Triple Crown Winner
I'm sorry, but I'd rename "Triple Crown Near Misses" to something else. To be a near miss, you have to first win the Derby and then the Preakness. and then maybe lose by a nose at the Belmont.

Ill have ANOTHER! ALL THE WAY FOR THREE
i really think i 'll have another has a great shot here, the 2nd best horse isn't going to the belmont and the others better fire hard it's do or die for them.
i want another.
Just gonna keep thinking positive, good thoughts! I would LOVE to see a Triple Crown with a smooth, easy ride!
the one fact i keep going back to is all eleven t.c. winners ran at belmont before june of their 3-yo season. i think that matters a lot.
  • icyhotboo · In this race while it's true you need the horse you need the jockey just as much. Calvin blew this race on MTB but so did many others before him. · 694 days ago ·

I'm keeping positive !! It would be so great !!!
I think there's a real chance this year!
I just don't see anyone winning the triphle crown unless someone spectaular can win these three premier horse races.
i don't see NORTHERN DANCER on the list Derby/Preakness???????????
ok ....i see him
Watch out for TC this year. Last 2 chances came on a leap year. The year ends in 12 and we are looking for the 12th winner.
  • Mary Z. · I don't know if we'll get another TC winner, but the build up will be more exciting if young Margano starts winning on dirt. · 839 days ago ·
