Triple Crown Winners

The Triple Crown of horse racing consists of the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes. It traditionally starts on the First Saturday in May with the Kentucky Derby, then two weeks later with the Preakness Stakes followed by the Belmont Stakes three weeks after that.

The Triple Crown of horse racing is considered the most elusive feat in horse racing, and perhaps in all of sports. The 11 Triple Crown Winners are listed below.  I'll Have Another will attempt to be the 12th horse to win the Triple Crown in the 2012 Belmont Stakes.

What the Nation is saying about Triple Crown Winners...

I think there's a real chance this year!
I just don't see anyone winning the triphle crown unless someone spectaular can win these three premier horse races.
i don't see NORTHERN DANCER on the list Derby/Preakness???????????
ok ....i see him
Watch out for TC this year. Last 2 chances came on a leap year. The year ends in 12 and we are looking for the 12th winner.
  • Mary Z. · I don't know if we'll get another TC winner, but the build up will be more exciting if young Margano starts winning on dirt. · 143 days ago ·

  • mjtags11 · Its possible, but now, many horses aren't bred like they used to be, distance is the thing most breeders dont care about, most only want them to reach a mile and a quarter. It is possible, but it would be tough for any horse to race at the Belmonts distance within a month after the Preakness and Derby, especially now that horses are not bred with stamina either, most horses dont like being raced that often, but who knows · 289 days ago ·

  • shores · to add to mjtags11's point, i think in order for there to be a triple crown winner in any given year, there would have to be a standout amongst the horses of that particular crop. this horse will have to be far better and far more versatile that his or her peers and will have to get all kinds of distances, and they just don't breed like that anymore, so i just don't see it happening, as much as i would like it to. but theres always hope.... · 289 days ago ·
