Beginning in 2013, horses will qualify for entry in the Kentucky Derby based on a new point system. The races and points structure are listed below.
No qualifying races are shorter than 1 mile. Also, fillies must qualify in the same races as males if they are pointing for the Kentucky Derby. There is a separate point system for the Kentucky Oaks.
