Who Am I ???

Who Am I ??? 615 X 400

*Sired by a Kentucky Derby winner, I was purchased as a two-year-old for more than $300,000.

*Unraced at two, I made my debut soon after New Year’s Day at Gulfstream Park.

*I won my first two starts for my English trainer before finishing fourth in my graded stakes debut.

*After finishing third at Saratoga, I ended my first season with stakes wins at Belmont and Keeneland.

*The following year, my 4yo season began with my first two Grade 1 victories, both in Kentucky.

*My winning streak reached five with a win in Chicago, before finishing third again at Saratoga.

*I bounced back with three more graded stakes wins, in three different states, to close out the season.

*My excellent four-year-old season was rewarded with an Eclipse Award.

*I had my busiest season of racing at five, and added three more stakes wins.

*It was not as successful as the previous season, though, and I could not duplicate my Breeders’ Cup victory.

*Overall, I won better than 60% of my career starts, and was a multiple stakes winner in each season.

You should know by now … Who Am I ???

Meet Brian Zipse

Brian has been a passionate fan of horse racing his entire life. Taken to the races at a very young age, he has been lucky enough to see all the greats in person from Secretariat, Forego, and Ruffian through Rachel Alexandra, Zenyatta, and American Pharoah. Before coming to the Nation, Brian displayed his love for the sport through the development of his horse racing website, which quickly became one of the most popular blogs in the game.

As Editor of Horse Racing Nation, Brian authors a daily column as Zipse at the Track, or ZATT for short, and adds his editorial flare to the overall content of the website. A big supporter of thoroughbred aftercare, he serves on the Board of Directors of The Exceller Fund. Brian also consults for leading contest site Derby Wars, and is a Vox Populi committee member.

A horse owner and graduate of DePaul University, Brian lives just outside of Louisville with his wife Candice and daughter Kendra.
