Who Am I ???

Who Am I ???

*Bred in Kentucky, my breeders were a pair that had been through the Triple Crown wars with close-but-no-cigar results.

*My sire was a Breeders' Cup winner and my dam could really move it.

*A winner of 54% of my races, I only finished out of the money one time in my three-year racing career.

*3rd in my career debut, I did not lose again until the season finale of my three-year-old season.

*My first career race in New York resulted in a grade 1 win as the 2-1 favorite.

*More than half of my lifetime starts came at the same track, which is not in New York or California.

*My most important career victory came in the state of Kentucky.

*I was never voted a champion, but I was in the mix two years running.

*My two trainers both won the Kentucky Derby, and did it only two years apart.

*Other than my grade 1 wins, all of my victories either came at either 6 furlongs or 1 1/16 miles.

*My first foal to make it to the track is currently 0-for-2 in graded stakes.

You should know by now … Who Am I ???

Paseanda, Bayakoa, Hetherten, Zenyatta, Harve de Grace- what a line up ovewr the years....I had hope that the connections would send Rachel Alexndra but they knew she was cooked, undone and through.
It was the Azeri, Jennifer ... great race!
This has me reminiscing about the rivalry between Round Pond and Happy Ticket. I wish I had been a better fan when I watch them race at Oaklawn. I was still in the beginning stages of really paying attention. Their Appleblossom? was seared on them memory of even the lightest fan! Maybe it was the Azeri? Have to look up.
I knew it was a girl and that's about it. Went in the wrong direction. Congrats SusieRaisher !
-_- i was about to guess that.
Fresian Fire?

Meet Brian Zipse

Brian has been a passionate fan of horse racing his entire life. Taken to the races at a very young age, he has been lucky enough to see all the greats in person from Secretariat, Forego, and Ruffian through Rachel Alexandra, Zenyatta, and American Pharoah. Before coming to the Nation, Brian displayed his love for the sport through the development of his horse racing website, which quickly became one of the most popular blogs in the game.

The Editor of Horse Racing Nation from 2010-2017, Brian authored a daily column as Zipse at the Track, or ZATT for short, and added his editorial flare to the overall content of the website. Now a Senior Writer for HRN, Brian continues to contribute his thoughts on racing, as well as co-hosting the popular racing show, HorseCenter. A big supporter of thoroughbred aftercare, he serves as the President of The Exceller Fund.

Brian's work has also been published on several leading industry sites. He has consulted for leading contest site Derby Wars, is both a Hall of Fame and NTRA poll voter, and is a Vox Populi committee member.

A horse owner and graduate of DePaul University, Brian lives just outside of Louisville with his wife Candice and daughter Kendra.
