Who Am I ???

Who Am I ???

*Bred in the great state of Kentucky, my sire was a winner of the Run for the Carnations.

*My famous owner was best known for his regular place in American newspapers.

*I may have finished 10th in my career debut, but I turned it around to become a stakes winner at two.

*A winner of just over one-fifth of my career races, I ran more times as a juvenile than I did the rest of my career.

*My first stakes win came in a race that has been run one hundred times.

*Yes, I raced in May at Churchill Downs as a three-year-old, but was defeated by a Hall of Famer.

*I had finished ahead of that excellent rival a few times before that, though.

*My most important career victory was also my final career victory.

*I was never worried to see a little rain in the forecast for race day.

*A stakes race named in my honor was most recently won by a descendant of Seattle Slew.

*The best of my offspring was a champion, but could only manage 7th in the same race that made me famous.

You should know by now … Who Am I ???

Brian, I look good in the paddock, I'm telling you, LOL. Hopefully I finally break my maiden!
Don't bring this second place finish up, Brian, haha :).
On the Zipse scale of difficulty, tonight's Who Am I ??? only rates a 5.4 ... Only fair after last week's super marathon.
I knew there was a trick with the clue about racing in May at Churchill as a 3 year old. I fooled around with different options and realized it had to be the Oaks. Then I went through all the more recent fillies before finally coming to Nellie Morse. I checked her sire to make sure he won the Belmont, checked the Nellie Morse stakes to make sure it was won by a Seattle Slew, etc. I kept refreshing waiting for Brian's clue, and typed it in right away. Sorry for the seconditis! Hate to say it, but this was my first try!
W/o the Rachel clue I would have never guessed it.
LOL. I was no where near the answer. But, the addition clue helped me. I thought "What does Brian mean when he says that?" At first I was thinkin somewhere in her pedigree, so I wasted time looking into that. Then I thought' "Her Preakness?" I remembered that Nellie Morse's sire was 1914 Belmont Winner, I posted it as quick as possible w/o checking on pedigreequery or anything, and I was 2nd yet again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This game is rigged for me to come in second. I believe these are my Who Am I??? Stats: 8 0 5 0.
Thanks friends! The silly thing is, I was fact checking the answer for the last 10 minutes because I was afraid of being wrong. I waited for Brian to put up the clue so I'd know I was right! haha
At least it says I lost by 2 minutes, that makes it less annoying, lol. Congrats, kristen.
Big congratulations, Kristen ... you should be very proud of winning such a difficult contest!
My brain hurts lol Congrats Kristen!
Exhausting. Good one, Brian. Congrats to Kristen.

LOL, nice job, Kristen.
R U Fuking kidding me? 2nd yet again!
