Zipse At The Track

My apologies to anyone who listened to me today

Stranger

Sometimes you eat the bear, and sometimes, well, he eats you.

~The Stranger (Big Lebowski)

I think I owe the world of racing a formal apology today. I made a total of five tweets handicapping the major races of the day, and each one got progressively worse. For a good laugh, please read on...

I got the day started off with a bang with this one. The  tweet referenced my belief that although Close Hatches was sharp, I gave her little chance to upset Dreaming of Julia.

Brian Zipse @Zipseatthetrack12h

@James_Scully111 I'm expecting an improved race for that very reason, James ... still don't think she can handle Julia today, though.

The next tweet not only gave out a losing favorite, but for good measure a middle-priced horse who did nothing.

Brian Zipse @Zipseatthetrack12h

I like Atigun in the Colonial Turf Cup ... chalk. Looking for some odds in the All Along and Adjacent is the one.

My third tweet demonstrated my strong belief that Iotapa was the best horse going into the Hollywood Oaks, and even though the race dynamics probably did not look good, I expected her to take down the heavy favorite … umm, no.

Brian Zipse @Zipseatthetrack3h

Hollywood Oaks ... If the bettors are right, and Doinghardtimeagain is better than Iotapa, than I'm just plain wrong.

And the beat went on - When you tout a 1-5 shot, they really shouldn’t lose...

Brian Zipse @Zipseatthetrack2h

This time I'm on the side of the big favorite ... looking for something impressive today from Dreaming of Julia.

And last but not least, I wanted to make it clear that I really liked Atigun … Can anyone tell me if he has finished running yet?

Brian Zipse @Zipseatthetrack33m

I've been on the Atigun as a legit turf horse soapbox for awhile ... let's get it started tonight at Colonial!

To anyone that listened to my selections today on HRN, Twitter, or Facebook, I sincerely apologize. I will try not to let it happen again.

I am such an Idiot!

Welcome to the world of gambling, where the improbable happens on a regular basis.
brian,no apologies needed.evryone is an adult.you made suggestions based on what you thought were good handicapping points.personally,i have always been of the opinion that if one cannot make their own opinion in any form of investing,be it gambling or anything else.they should never risk their hard earned money based on opinions.the only ones that should apologize are the ones that try to deceive people.i have never met you,but from the respect you have on this site from the many posters.that is the farhest thought.keep pumping away with the picks.like the ponies, when you win your a star.when you lose they do not talk about you.
it is natural, statistically, for any competent player to have up to 7 losing investments in a row from time to time..Dick Mitchell
No apologies needed we all have had those kinda days... You've had many good ones according to my memory...
Not favorites, but likes
Just rooting on your favorites, no shame in that.
Here's my DOJ tweet: @EJXD2 Close Hatches is a nice filly, but as long as DOJ can run her race unimpeded, then any price is fair, IMO.
