My First Day on The Nation

Hello Nation!  For those of you who don’t know me yet, my name is Brian Zipse, and this is my first blog on Horse Racing Nation.

I am thrilled to be here as the brand new Managing Editor of the fastest growing, and most fan friendly website in the world of horse racing.  While I get acclimated to my new surroundings, I plan to hit the ground running.  I am amazed at all of the wonderful features here on HRN.  I hope that you will take the time to look around and join in the fun.  It is truly a fan driven website.  The more you participate, the better the Nation becomes.  As far as this blog, I started Zipse at the Track in the Summer of 2009, and the good news is … I write a column every single day, or as close to every single day as humanly possible.  As the header says, ZATT is here for the love of thoroughbred horse racing.  Whether it be handicapping, history, trivia, hot topics, rankings, or a little humor, this blog is all about having fun and celebrating the sport.  All I ask of you is to enjoy, and feel free to let me know what you think.

Speaking of you, the people who really matter, I very much look forward to interacting with all of you on the blog, on the website, or on Facebook and Twitter.  Friend me on Facebook, and you can Tweet me at: http://twitter.com/#!/Zipseatthetrack.  Like Horse Racing Nation on Facebook and on follow on Twitter at: http://twitter.com/#!/HR_Nation.  Please feel free to ask me any questions you like! I’m always available here as well:  zipseatthetrack@hotmail.com

Cheers!

~Brian

What the Nation is saying about My First Day on The Nation...

Sorry, I for got to say at Belmont Park. duh!
Hi everyone, This site is amazing. I was searching the net to post a picture on my facebook page of a horse but could not find one anywhere. A NY Bred won the 6th race on 09/07/13 named STREET LORD, anyone have a photo?
Thanks ghandi672, it's great to be here!

Congrats, Brian, and welcome!!! http://equinetic.wordpress.com/2010/12/21/8-questions-with-brian-zipse/
Maryland racing on life support and future of racing in New Jersey very much in doubt..http://examiner.gmnews.com/news/2010-12-23/Front_Page/The_clock_is_ticking_for_NJs_horseracing_industry.html
Thank you for making me feel welcome, everyone. Railbird1, I will leave the heavy lifting of daily handicapping to Jarrod and others. You will find selections in my preview of stakes races on the column, and I am sure I will throw in a Play of the Day here and there, but nothing too regular. When you do read a selection by me, I suggest running, not walking to the windows. ;-)
Congratulations Brian, I look forward to following you where ever you are. You are passionate and informative about our sport and always a good read.
Heavens the BEST...you don't get around much do you? There are guys at Thorograph and HTR that put us all to shame.
Brian: Are you going to handicap races for us? If so it will be interesting to see how you fare against Jarrod Horak. He is the best handicapper I have ever followed on the net. If your abilities come anywhere close to his you will be a welcome addition to HRN. I hope you don't mind if I reserve judgment until I see more of your contributions.
I love your Eclipse Awards selections!!!
Lemings: one of the most ridiculous contentions, without a shred of real evidence, is in the use of furosemide diuresis in the midst of competition with phenylbutazone,. If those two were given in a human situation, clinical pharmacologists would be testifying at multuple malpractice trials yet no one makes that known...Nuts
  • JTaylor76 · Not that I disagree with some of your comments...but My Lord you must love to hear yourself talk. WELCOME BRIAN!!!!!!! · 1213 days ago ·

Meet Brian Zipse

Brian has been a passionate fan of horse racing since birth. Taken to the races at a very young age, he has been lucky enough to see all the greats in person from Secretariat and Ruffian through Rachel Alexandra and Zenyatta. Before coming to the Nation, Brian displayed his love for the sport through the development of his horse racing website, which quickly became one of the most popular blogs in the game.

As Managing Editor of Horse Racing Nation, Brian authors a daily column as Zipse at the Track, or ZATT for short, and adds his editorial flare to the overall content of the website. Brian also serves on the the Board of Directors of ReRun Thoroughbred Adoption and is a Vox Populi committee member.

A graduate of DePaul University, Brian lives in Suburban Chicago with his wife Candice and daughter Kendra, where he is a professional golf instructor when he is not following the horses.
