Canterbury Park will be my 44th racetrack!

One year ago today I offered my list of every thoroughbred racetrack I have visited to see live racing. It is time to revisit the list. While some better people than I strive for more important things in life, it has become a goal of mine to see as many as possible before I leave this world. In 2011, I was lucky enough to add four new tracks in Tampa Bay Downs, Indiana Downs, Prairie Meadows, and Hoosier Park. While I enjoyed myself at each of the four, I would have to admit it was Tampa Bay Downs that impressed me the most for an enjoyable day at the races. So far in 2012, I've had a great time seeing big races at Oaklawn Park, Turfway Park, Hawthorne Race Course, Arlington Park, and Belmont Park, but of course none of those raised my grand total, as they are all tracks that I've been to before. With this in mind, I'm happy to say I've just made firm arrangements to visit Canterbury Park in Minnesota this summer. It will be lucky number 44!

Below you can see every thoroughbred racetrack where I've had the pleasure of seeing my favorite sport in person. The count of 44 (I am counting Canterbury, because it will now take a natural disaster to keep me away this summer) is not bad; recently turned 43-years-old, I will be one track ahead of years alive. My goal is now to always stay ahead of my age. Looking at the list, you'll see that I have some pretty surprising omissions, so feel free to tell me which track you think I absolutely need to get to as soon as possible. As you can see, I desperately need to see more racing outside of the United States, which I plan to work on sooner than later. Also, I am very curious as to how many of you out there can put my list to shame. Talk to me, my friends!

What the Nation is saying about Canterbury Park will be my 44th racetrack!...

Yeah, starving racedogs to run after a rabbit is real fun.
Portland Medows used to run the Multonmah Dog Club inside of the T-bred track
Southland - the Saratoga of dog tracks!
Dogs? Dogs? I mean dogs ... are we really talking about dogs?
Woodlands baby! What about dog tracks?
one of the tracks i used to go to is gone......bay meadows.....miss it.
I like your thinking, Mike ... Great city, good food, and Golden Gate sounds like a plan!
How about Golden Gate? Pretty nice track and the Bay area is a great place to visit.
I thought I had seen a lot at 54 then met a fellow who had been to 89...I want to go back to Europe and see the French courses.
I have done 2 that are gone, Cenntennial (Denver) and Dertroit Race Course ( Detroit)
