[Video] Kentucky Derby 2012 - Union Rags Behind The Scenes

The sun was shining and it was another great morning out at Churchill Downs. This morning I focused completely on Union Rags. Trainer Michael Matz shipped Union Rags from Keeneland yesterday afternoon to Churchill Downs. Today was the first time since Breeders Cup Union Rags galloped over the track.

 

We caught up with him on the track and Michael Matz back in the barn area. Here is how my morning went:



As I was leaving the backside I stopped by Steve Asmussen's barn to grab a glimpse at Daddy Nose Best. We'll have that story tomorrow plus any of the other action happening on the backside. Leave me a comment on this post and let me know if you want me to cover any specific horses tomorrow.

Wow...I can just start at that horse build all day. He is something special. He has a nice frame and muscle to go with it.

Meet Kevin Kerstein 

Long story short, I took the long road getting involved in the industry. I did not get into horse racing until 2008 when I came to Louisville for college.

I'm originally from outside of Philadelphia and attend college at Bellarmine University in Louisville, Kentucky. Since I was 15 I was involved with working in radio and TV. I first covered horse racing at the 2011 Kentucky Derby and my passion just continues to grow. Let the early mornings begin and the Derby fever heat up as we hit the backside to get the exclusive stories leading up to the first Saturday in May.
