Breeders’ Cup Buzz Horse #6 - Dank (GB)
Breeders' Cup Division: Filly & Mare Turf

DANK
Breeding: Dansili (GB) - Masskana (IRE) (Darshaan (GB))
Four-year-old Filly
Trainer: Sir Michael R. Stoute
Owner: James Wigan
Breeder: London Thoroughbred Services Ltd

*Timeform Master Rating: 123
Most Impressive Prep Race: Grade 1 Beverly D Stakes, Arlington, Aug. 17, 2013
**TimeformUS Speed Figure earned: 114

Analysis: Dank is one of those fillies who has benefited from the patient approach of her handler, Sir Michael Stoute, as having climbed the ranks she has hit new heights this year. A win in the Group 3 Dahlia Stakes at Newmarket on her seasonal reappearance was followed by a narrow defeat at Royal Ascot before an authoritative Group 2 victory at the Curragh, but it was last time out in the Beverly D. Stakes at Arlington that she posted her breakthrough performance, improving to defeat Gifted Girl by four and a quarter lengths for her first Group 1 success. A good pace and the slightly longer distance played to Dank’s strengths at Arlington, so the further step up in trip for the Filly & Mare Turf, a race her trainer won in 2003 with Islington, could well see her improve again.

*Timeform Master Ratings are adjusted for age, so that equal ratings mean horses of equal merit. Another way of looking at it is to see the universal rating handicap as four handicaps side by side: one for two-year-olds, one for three-year -olds, one for four-year-olds and one for older horses.
**In TimeformUS past performances, neither the Timeform Performance Ratings nor the TimeformUS Speed Figures are adjusted for age.

Older Comments about Breeders' Cup Buzz Horse: #6 Dank (GB)...

Even with the rail draw, if she runs back even close to how she's ran in the Dahlia Stakes, Duke of Cambridge Stakes, & Kilboy Estate Stakes in Europe, and of her course her Beverly D. Stakes run in America, I think Dank is gonna take some beating. It won't be the first time Ryan Moore has had to negotiate a rail draw on favorite in a race of this magnitude. That being said, if Dank should happen to be off of her game in the least then I think the former Coolmore owned filly, Laughing, has a really big shot. 8-1 looks an awfully big price on a filly that's won her last 4 races, 2-G1's, 1-G2, & 1-G3. Andre Fabre's filly, Romantica, is also one of the most talented filly/mares in the field, but as I mentioned earlier my hesitancy about backing her in this race is that most of her best form in France came with a bit more cut in the ground than she'll likely see on Saturday. But still, you can't entirely discount Romantica getting a piece of this race with Andre Fabre at the healm.
Trainer Stoute has won with 5 out of 33 Breeders' Cup starters for 15%, which is a very high percentage for the BC.
