Ocean Knight finishes 2nd beaten 3/4 of a length, good race off the long layoff, he will benefit from this and get better next time out.
Loved it!
WOW!!! Never in doubt!! Stellar Wind brilliant again!!! Wasn't much competition, but she looked great!!!!
  • Mark Kennedy via Disqus · I love how they were dogging her before the race saying she really isn't all that. Well she shut them up real quick dominating that race · 19 minutes ago
So he loses 1 race like all the other greats did and all of a sudden everyone is throwing him to the curb? He lost, all the great horses lose some. He'll be back for more just like they did.
Stop all of you with the excuses. Fact. AP is a TC winner and a great horse. All the he is tired crap is baloney. Let me break it down for you. The colt didn't get started until March. He has toyed with the fields under hand rides. He rested after the TC and has raced once prior to the travers doing awesome. His team has been happy and smiles saying how well he travels. In fact everyone was all smiles going into the race. The grave yard of champions excuse has always loomed large Keen ice has raced light out since January just trying to be part of the equation. Talk about a horse that should be tired. Yesterday was a great race and to lose by a length is nothing to diminish the colt but it is disrespectful to not acknowledge a hard fought win by keen ice. In fact any of the three were deserving of the wins. Stop the Bull""""" It was a great race run by the top three Ap got beat by the one two punch that forced him to never really get a breather. That's horse racing
Congrats to Keen Ice. American Pharoah you are still #1 to me. GREAT JOB
American Pharoah is a great horse and besides PG I can't see an argument for him not being horse of the young century. This result doesn't change that. Regardless of what happens next AP will win the Eclipse Award for Champion Three Year Old and Horse of the Year. American Pharoah has also wrapped up the single season earnings record. Is he the greatest ever or even in the conversation? No. Citation, Secretariat, Count Fleet, War Admiral, Affirmed and probably Man O War are better than him. We need to put this loss in context. Affirmed like AP came back from the TC and won his return race at 9 in very similar time to AP ( 1.47.80 to 1.47.95) Also like Affirmed, AP went to the Travers against the best of his crop. Affirmed lost via DQ in 2.02 whereas AP lost by 1 in 2.01.57. How does this tarnish AP? He ran the 10 faster than Affirmed did at the same point in his three year old year. Today's Travers was a fast Travers historically the 12th fastest I've said it before and I'll say it again Frosted is far, far better than his record indicates and the fact AP managed to beat him in a speed duel at 10 says a lot. Remember at the 10 furlong KD AP was empty at the end of that race along with FL and Dortmund and the only thing that kept Frosted from the winners circle was a terrible trip. The Travers played out almost exactly the same way except this time the closer Keen Ice did not have a horrible trip and had room to catch the empty early speed in this case Frosted and eventually AP. There's nothing to be ashamed of in this race it was a tough field and unlike in the Belmont and Haskell he was put in a bad situation. I still feel AP is better than anything in the older horses division.
I like the Cali bred Big Book/Rattataptap/Stellar Wind/Roksana
If a loss affected AP's reputation, than I would've retired him after his maiden race!!! If you're a horse racing supporter you would realize that AP running in the Travers!
And who are you Mr. Kennedy to tell every one to stop the Bull. If that race was ran again today the outcome could be different. People like you get me. You think your the one that knows more than any one. The fact is that a great horse got beat yesterday and you can think what you want but you can't tell any one that Keen Ice is a better horse and he hasn't been lights out. he has won only one race before yesterday. You should get off your high horse and understand that we are feeling bad about Him loosing and if we want to talk about it that's up to us Mr. Big Stuff. We will say what we want and if you want to be a jerk that's up to you. I am a great fan of AP but do I think he the best horse racing right now? No maybe not. I think there s a good chance he will get beat in the BC, Beholder might very well get him, personally I don't think he should be racing at all. Maybe you should back off and let people express there thoughts with out any smart remarks.
Congratulations to all who saw Greatness in this horse; tmallios, D. Rutherford and others. He won the way a deserving Triple Crown Champion should, and has earned his place among the all time greats! And most of all, THANK YOU American Pharoah!!!...
This is one to look out for in the future, as Lord Horse Club may have another superstar on their hands. Lord Quest won the Niigata Nisai (for 2 y/os) today by 4 lengths geared down with devastating ease.
Latest news on him?
Just saw a really interesting "where are they now" piece on YouTube about City Style who was a real warrior for Godolphin for a number of years racing in Dubai during the Carnival. He won the final start of his career in the G3 Strensall Stakes at York in 2013 and was then retired by Godolphin. He now resides in stables at Newmarket in the UK and was recently purchased by one of Godolphin's secretaries named Hannah Pollard who has retrained City Style and turned him into a competitive show jumper. According to his new owner he's already won a couple of ribbons in show jumping. Very different from finishing 2nd in the G1 Jebel Hatta or 3rd in the G1 Dubai Duty Free.
Theogony scores a huge upset in the Belle Mahone stakes at Woodbine. Another Stakes winner for Curlin!!! The hits just keep on comin, Theogony becomes Curlin's 22nd stakes winner overall!!
Congratulations to Keen Ice. He keeps getting better.
got his KI @$$ kick 3 times by AP!
"1" out of 4 ant bad yeah right!
BREAKING NEWS : American Pharoah has come out of the Travers in good shape. Ahmed Zayat tells DRF'S Jay Privman On Sat night that he was "60-40" towards retirement, but wanted to talk to Baffert, etc. Also, Zayat said if Pharoah were to run in BC, and was to prep beforehand, his ideal spot would be at Churchill Downs , then remain in Ky for Breeders Cup. According to DRF
A good race by Keen Ice. After running behind AP all year, it was nice to see Keen Ice win. Good race by AP and Frosted as well.
