Why not right? Just for fun I'm betting on Hoppertunity!! California Chrome 2nd, Win The Space 3rd. No. California Chrome 1st, Hoppertunity 2nd, Win The Space 3rd.
"California Chrome has put together a career that in total is more impressive than American Pharoah’s..... A strong case can be made that he, not American Pharoah, is the horse of the decade so far...Because he came up short at the Belmont, California Chrome may never receive the adulation American Pharoah earned. But for close watchers of the thoroughbred game, his accomplishments are second to none." http://www.nytimes.com/2016/10/01/sports/horse-racing/california-chrome-santa-anita-horse-of-the-year.html?_r=0
Has anyone heard if Baffert is going to stick with M Smith or go back to Bejarano for the Classic...personally, I am hoping Smith stays aboard...any thoughts?
The prerace buzz has Champagne Rom winning the 2016 G1 Chandelier over Noted and Quoted. Entering this year Breeders Cup events, Mike Smith will have 4 legitimate shots (Songbird, Arrogate, Drefong and Champagne Room) of adding to his large collections of BC wins.
Does anyone know where exactly he got his name? Chrome and R Sunday Surprise both have backstories behind their names...
Shotgun Gulch's first foal to debut starts in race 3, an unraced maiden, at Mont De Marsan in France tomorrow.
Apparently he lost his battle with Laminitis in July. His owners posted about his loss on twitter after it happened.
Apparently there's this rumor floating around that he passed away. I doubt this is true, but just in case has anyone heard anything?
  • Flanders via Disqus · Its not a rumor. He has a death report on file with the Jockey Club. Only his owner can submit one. · 11 hours ago

Maybe it was the heat, she didn't want to run at all today.
Melatonin missed over a year in 2014-2015. What was that from? Also, not having run since June, and being scratched from the Pacific Classic, is it likely we have seen the last of him on the track?
I looked on alto racing Web page and Facebook page and the last message about materiality is from September 2015 when they announced his retirement. Even if there is nothing negligent or dishonorable about the horse's death, it's shocking that the owners would not post the news and provide at least a brief eulogy for a horse who was one of the leading contenders for the derby. Googling the owners there is virtually nothing about their horse racing business... it's all about their drag racing and stock car racing businesses. They obviously care nothing about the traditions and dignity of the sport, or the fans.
Exaggerator being freshened at Win Star. Hopefully he isn't retired on the downside like Curlin's other Classic runners, Palace Malice, Ride on Curlin, maybe Keen Ice. Leaves a sour taste that his main runners have or are going out on the downswing.
Exaggerator has been sent to Winstar Farm for a freshening and might get the rest of the year off. Big Chief Racing announces that Winstar has full control over Exaggerator's future and will decide in the coming weeks on if he will race as a four year old or retire to stud.
Can someone find out where this horse is standing. I can't find him. Thanks
Does anybody know anything about the owner "alto racing"? Seems very odd that this happened so quietly. Maybe they have something to hide?
