I'm afraid that after her last place finish today, we may have seen the last of CH, I don't think her head is in the game anymore, despite these two losses, I really think she will get 2014 champion older mare, 3 G1's and G2, no other older female has those numbers, so I think she gets the eclipse award, but looks like we saw her career end today
  • Anne Shaw · I think Sophia's record is 4-1-1 for this year out of 6 races. They should look at her as well. i thought Hatches would rebound today but she didn't. Reminds me of Blind Lucks last race. · 8 hours ago
  • sully · Sophia won 1 G1 and 3 listed stakes this year. Just not even close to the full year body of work Close Hatches put together. Maybe if she would've been able to run down Untapable, but even then it would have been difficult to disregard CH dominating the entire year with the exception of the last month. · 27 minutes ago
Glad to see this great horse go out as the champion he is. A great ride by Bejarano, he felt Tapiture coming and eased out in the stretch to slightly intimidate Tapiture, and have enough left to win, even with those suicidal fractions.

It isn't like it is a slow time. By all accounts that a very good time. Is it 1.46? No, but it's rare we see a time like that and even 1.47 these days are rare. The track was an absolute highway last year, that catered to any horse anywhere with in 2 lengths of the lead, the first day of the Breeders Cup, and even then Beholder still ran 1.47.8, on fifth from 1.48. Today it was easily slower than it was last year. There is not telling how Beholder would have performed. Several factors, track and current form would be very different than they were last year. She didn't seem to have the same spark she did last year, and the track was not nearly as fast. Untapable ran a huge race in a good time, over a fair track, beating her elders, while being wide around both turn, at least 3-4 wide. She gave up a good amount of ground, over a slower track, and still ran a very good time. Do not try to take away from what she did today, and give it to a horse that didn't even make it to the gate. It is disrespectful to her and the race she ran.
The undeniable, unstoppable, unbeatable (against fillies), Untapable! What an incredible race after going wide the whole time! But what is up with Close Hatches? She didn't lift a hoof for the second time in a row.
  • ekindy · Hindsight is 20/20 of course, but I am thinking that her effort in the Personal Ensign took a lot out of her. · 7 hours ago
Went wide the entire time and still put away all challengers. She is one heck of a filly. She should win HOTY if a longshot wins the classic!! Go Untapable! Can't wait to see you run next year
  • ekindy · If Main Sequence wins then he is the leader in the clubhouse for HOTY when the Classic goes off. Not to knock Untapable's season, but if Main Sequence can win 4 straight open company G1 races including the BC Turf against the European shippers, then nothing Untapable has done can match that feat. · 7 hours ago
Some thoughts on day 1 of the Breeder's Cup. I am pretty pumped American based horses took down both Juvenile Turf races. Hootenanny and Lady Eli are two very talented horses I am excited to see next year, Lady Eli is explosive and her win gave Wesley Ward his first BC win. Goldencents, wow. Almost all you have to say. I am still waiting for Tapiture to pass him.Happy retirement to a horse that provided some great thrills especially in the Dirt Mile. Going into the first turn of the Distaff Untapable's position reminded me a lot like her run in the Haskell and given her past performances at Santa Anita I thought she may be in trouble but she ran a great race regardless of the time and won like a champion. Admittedly I am not a fan of hers, unfortunately in large part due to the connections but I recognize her talent and accomplishments. I was really pulling for Don't Tell Sophia, she also ran a nice race. Close Hatches was who I was really pulling for and she threw in another clunker. Something is obviously off with her being mental or physical, time to become a Mommy. Speaking of being a Mommy Congrats to Rosie on her win and her pregnancy. She was especially choked up after the race and for someone who is intensely serious and business like around the racetrack it was nice to see that side of her on one of racing's biggest days. Overall great day, minus Vicar's In Trouble. I am very excited for tomorrow.
If we have a sloppy track ? well then bring on the Bombs Baby!!
Duel between Tonalist and Shared Belief. I got Tonalist edging him. Chrome won't even hit the board. Zivo and Candy Boy round out my Superfecta. Not a believer in Bayern, Imperative or Moreno. Chrome will do good to come in 4th. That's just my humble opinion and more importantly where I'm betting. No one really knows but we shall see in 24hrs.
I like Cigar Street
From the Ramsey Farm Facebook: "According to trainer Mike Maker, Vicar's In Trouble suffered a condular fracture in his front left leg during the BC Dirt Mile. He will undergo surgery in the morning."
  • Goblin · And just when I was thinking there were no injuries or breakdowns this BC afternoon. · 9 hours ago
Good job my boy, Chitu!!!!!!! Can't believe I got that nice price..Cha-ching!!!!!!!!!
  • Buckpasser via Disqus · Your boy looked very good. Congrats. I'm sure you're thrilled as you have backed him from the beginning · 11 hours ago
  • chitu77 · BP, thank you so much!!! Yes, hoping he gets better as a 4-year old. 2015 BC Dirt Mile will be the goal. · 9 hours ago
Rosies announcement that she will be retiring due to her being Pregnant. The fact that she won this race gives us 2 really great feel good stories in back to back years. Last years was Kathy Ritvo being rewarded with a BC Classic win with MMM. At least Rosies child will be a great Trivia Question. The Child will turn out to be the youngest to ever Ride on a BC Winner.
  • Jbyrnes1 · Apparently, DRF's David Grening says Rosie is 7 weeks pregnant, so your right about that question · 10 hours ago
So happy my girl Lady Eli won!!!!!
  • chitu77 · Woohoo!!! Lady Eli & Chitu wins!!!! · 10 hours ago
  • Anne Shaw · Mine too and she's so grown up acting. I think this was only her 3rd race. · 10 hours ago
