Nijinsky II, Secretariat - September 12th

Nijinsky II won the St. Leger Stakes at Docaster(GB) and became the 15th winner of England's triple crown. He is the last horse to have won the English triple. ~1970
 
Fully recovered from a virus that had beset him at Saratoga, Secretariat worked
five furlongs in :57 as his last preparation for the Marlboro Cup Invitational
Handicap. ~1973

That intestinal disorder plaqued Secretariat from a couple days before his Woodward loss until just before that workout!
What I'd do to see Big Red handle a little bit different. Especially with those virus/abscess that plague him in the 3 W....
Two awesome triple crown winners ... I guess that :57 signaled his readiness, because his Marlboro Cup performance was spectacular!
