Earlie Fires, Steve Asmussen, John Oldham, Suzanne Picou - Sept. 11th

Jockey Earlie Fires had his 3,000th career win, aboard Volga Ace, in the fourth race at Arlington Park. ~1982
 
Trainer Steve Asmussen gained the 5,000th win of his career when he sent out Passion Rules to victory in the seventh race at Woodbine. ~2009
 
In the third race at Latonia, jockey John Oldham and his wife, Suzanne Picou, became the first husband and wife riding team to compete in a parimutuel race together. Oldham finished second aboard Harvey's Hope and Picou rode My Girl Carla to an 11th place finish. ~1976
 
Man O' War set another American record for 1 1/2 mile when he finished 15 lengths the best of his rivals in the Jocky Club Stakes at Belmont Park while carrying 118 pounds.  He earned $5,850 and his time for this race was 2:28 4/5, over 3 seconds faster than the previous record.  Chart reads "Man o' War under steady restraint the first mile, opened up a long lead in the stretch and won under a pull."  18 wins from 19 starts. ~1920
