Cigar, Richard Migliore, Wheatley Stables - February 4th

Cigar was named Horse of the Year for the second consecutive year. ~1997
 
Jockey Richard Migliore scored his 4,000th career victory aboard Benjamin Baby in the seventh race at Aqueduct. ~2005
 
Wheatley Stables, formed by Mrs. Henry Carnegie Phipps, recorded its first win ever, with a two-year-old filly named Sturdy Stella. ~1926

Cigar -- what a great champion. Appeared to tail off in his final few starts but I felt he had a little bad racing luck in each loss. Had the pleasure of seeing him run three times.
